Cool BMW VisionED (i8) spied during photoshoot in Abu Dhabi.

Here is the Vision ED with a new coat of paint, this time in a beautiful gray finish that shimmers in natural sunlight, giving the car a more production ready look. Otherwise, true to their word, this car visually seems to be relatively unchanged from the original concept car.

You can see the car's driver wearing a crisp racing suit and you can see men on the side of the track with cameras in hand as well as a video rig. This means that this car is not out on the track for testing purposes, but rather for a photo shoot. Is this for more promotion of the vision ED concept car, or might this be an actual production version of the VED car (rumored to be named the i8), noone knows at this point.

What is known is that the car will have a revolutionary drivetrain featuring a 161-horsepower 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo diesel engine mated with a hybrid synchronous motor on the front axle (80HP) and full electric motor on the rear axle (51HP), to give a combined 292HP good for 0-60 in 4.7seconds.

It's great! But the rear needs to flow better with the front imo.

true but imagine the veiw that the driver must have with that thing. all that window area is going to have the same effect that the center seat had in the Mclaren F1- great perspective for the driver.

And the car looks stunning in what looks like space grey. i cant wait to see this go toe to toe with the R8 and 911.

The future looks good for BMW.

I'm sure the glass sides won't make it to production. I doubt the scissor doors will but maybe bmw will try to upstage merc.

this looks like an evolution of the concept car as it gets closer to production. perhaps something they will show at detroit or NY... still stunning.

I was wondering that too.
The glass wont be safe in an accident, it wont pass EURONCAP crash-tests (i'm just refering to euroncap cause i live in europe, i believe it's NHTSA in America and so on..) :/
BMW will figure that out, i'm sure (:

Couldn't have said it better.

This car will not have the performance capabilities of the current M3, despite the huge premium surcharge.

With this, you're buying a very stylish performance hybrid, emphasis mine.
