Wheel Details:

Manufacturing process:
All APEX wheels are flow-formed resulting in a light weight, track and street worthy wheel.
Flow-forming significantly reduces weight in the barrel by rolling the barrel out into it's final shape using large wheels/disks applying high pressure.
This step is the same step that monoblock forged wheels go through to shape their barrels.
By doing this, the flow-formed wheel's barrel has the same density and strength as a traditional forged wheel.
This significantly reduces rotational mass at the furthest point from the center, which is the most important weight savings area on a wheel.

Sorry for the dumb question, but why is 18x9.5" et62 lighter than 18x8.5" et38.

Because the barrel is flow-formed (roll forged), the barrel has very little weight to it vs. the metal in the center hub area around the lugs. The 8.5" wheel has a lower offset, so it has more metal in that area, resulting in a slightly heavier overall weight. Plus slightly less spoke material is needed on the 62mm offset wheels to make them strong. The wheel is so flat that it transfers loads much easier to the hub.

It threw me off to, but when you look at the back side, you can see the differences that cause it.

To note, the ET62 wheels are for the 135i rear only and not for the 335i

I purchased a set of 8.5/18 et 38 and 9.5/18 et 35 in hyper silver for my sparkling graphite E90. Mounting them this week with Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's 235/40/18 // 265/35/18. Adding KW V1 coilovers too. Can't wait to check out the improved handling!

Do you have any pictures on a e90 sedan?

I would like to put 245/40/18's F and 275/35/18's R's on a 07 e90 with sport package. A friend with a M Coupe runs these size tires so i was wondering if I could fit them on these wheels. What size and offsets would you recommend without rubbing?

These would be used as Summer/Auto-X wheels. If the tire sizes are not optimal please let me know what sizes would be better (I would like to get some of the understeer out of the car using tires with no other changes.)

Also do the BMW TMPS sensors fit these wheels?

245/40/18 is a bit tall for the front, but can fit without rubbing depending on the tire used. Worst case a very minor 3-5mm spacer would be needed if you used and extreme summer tire that runs extra wide. The Z4M uses taller tires then the E90/2 so that fits with much more ease on their cars.

275/35/18 on the rear fits perfectly but will promote more understeer then a 265 would. 275 closer to the same size as the 245/40 setup so visually it will look better (0.2" height difference in sidewall height with 245/265 vs same height on 245/275), but if you want to cut down on understeer, you would benefit from a 265/35/18 rear instead, which keeps the size difference front to rear much closer.

That would be used on the 18x8.5" and 18x9.5" setup.

Wider wheels are concave to reach the hub mounting point and to reduce weight.

narrower wheels have a flatter face to provide Big Brake kit clearance at the correct offset for front fitments.

If you're willing to go widebody then you can use use concaves up front



The 1 series does not have room for concave wheels and wide tires at the same time.
