Orey you're full of BS and hold no credit regarding anything to do with finance throughout this forum. (thats a general statement but if anyone disagrees they will make it known)

My folks alwAys tells me your car cannot cost more than 5% of your house, or 30% of your salary.

by that calculation, keeping a 100k car would need a $2 million house(fully paid am assuming?) and a 300K + annual salary

lol.. as your income rises you'll have a higher disposable income therefore can spend a higher proportion of your salary on strippers/booze/cars.

houses don't always appreciate. granted it's a safe investment, but it's not risk free.

I would happily spend my $ in that order

Come on, can we just leave it at that for now? Whilst this was entertaining for a bit, it should be put to rest.

I'm envious of those who are lucky enough to have their parents assist with purchasing the first major asset they will own. To those who paid their own way, awesome! Make sure you make the most of your car!

Since we're all fortunate enough to own BMWs, regardless how or why let's just have fun! I'm just here to see nice cars, make some mates to go on runs or cruises!

THREAD OF THE YEAR!

And ROFL at orey's post regarding taking finance. As stu's already mentioned, the interest rate for BMW is lower than my return on capital, so dumping all the money upfront is the most stupid thing I could do.

Plus now I don't have to worry about selling it after 4 years. Berk.

I agree man

Its so fkn hypocritical of people to pay out on someone when their parents buy them things like cars. Whats the one thing we all strive for in our lives? We all strive to study hard, so we can have a great job, become rich and have a family and give our kids/familu/loved ones the things we never had.

Ill be spoiling my kids rotten, and im going to buy them nice cars etc. If i have the money and work hard for it, why not spend it on the ones who make you happy? The most pleasure a person can get is when they give and imagine the look on your kids face when you buy them that dream car for their 18th? Or make a deal with them that when they graduate they can have the dream car?

Of course you will teach them hard work, respect etc and clearly Orey has shown he studied hard, went to uni and has alot of knowledge about business and finance. That to me is pretty successful parenting. There are alot of drop kicks out there who just drain out system and county. So stop being so fkn jealous or giving him shit because his parents are successful and actually did something with their lives. Im sure the majority of you guys would do the same if u had the money.

I bet his parents have given so much more money to this country then any of us that we should actually be thanking him. Its people like that who make this country what it is. Imagine the tax they have paid all their lives if they can easily buy their kid an $80k car.....

No one paid him out until he said that people who use finance are 'muzzas' and shouldn't be driving BMWs in the first place. He wants BMWs to be an exclusive club composed only of those who have a lot of (their parent's) cash to throw around on a depreciating asset.

Nothing against finishing uni, I'm sure orey has had a sound education.
