I don't bother with them. They don't actually clean the headlight and just throw screenwash all over the car. The only thing they are useful for is soaking the car behind you. A sponge off once a day (in this weather) is far better.

If you just blip the wash then the headlight washers don't go off. Usually needs a couple of quick blips to get enough water on the screen, but saves soaking the whole car.

Ive got flaps fitted to my Lemans Blue saloon ! the sides are defintootly cleaner, but i dont think its made any differance to the the rear of the car, i also like the look of them it makes the car look chunkier !

The main reason why saloons / coupes do not have rear wipers is because they are difficult to mount as the bootlid moves independantly to the glass where on hatchbacks and estates they do not.

Whilst it's true that the flatter (more horizontal) glass gets less shit stuck to it a wiper would still be useful reversing after the car has been stood in the rain. They don't fit them because it's difficult.

Glass and boot move independently on an E91 with the trick "openy windowy" feature.

I find the lack of wipers on saloons a complete PITA. Dirt still flies up and sticks.

Yes, but not in the same way. Either the glass and tailgate go together or the glass lifts on its own. If the glass lifts on its own, the wiper assembly moves with it.

If you mounted a wiper through the glass on a saloon it might be fouled by the bootlid opening.

Thats interesting. seemingly BMW dont offer mudflaps for the E91 Msport. Only for the SE. (Ive checked this on websites and at local Sytners dealership).

My 2009 E91 LCI Msport had mudflaps added by previous owner; the rears fit OK-ish but the fronts have a triangular gap as the sill moulding is different from the SE.

I would really like to know exactly what flaps you have and where you got them from as they appear to fit much better than mine and dont have the triangular gap on the front ones.

I tried re-shaping my fronts with heat (off the car obviously) but it proved impossible to limit distortion over larger areas of the flap.

The BMW OE flaps seem to be very small - unlike that special girl's OE flaps

I can quite see the point of mudflaps on cars that ride much higher, with much more exposed tyre to fling dirt up - but the e90, especially the M Sport models with lower suspension, have such low ground clearance anyway, I wonder just how much use they are?

I think they are pretty effective.
I live down a muddy lane and the mudflaps certainly keep the sides of the car cleaner - but dont do anything for the rear; but that is what i would expect as the tail gate crud is fine dirt that is deposited from the airflow as opposed to the mud thrown directly from the tyres.

The flaps fitted to the E91 were dealer supplier and fitted before delivery. No codes or anything showing on the old paperwork, just "mud flaps".

I can only think that there have been some minor tweaks in the sills on the LCI as the fit was perfect.

Its very frustrating, as your wing and sill look identical to my LCI E91 Msport.
I wonder which flaps they have used on your car?
I wonder if there was a mudflap listed for pre-LCI Msport E91 ? I'll have to check.
The problem is that on the LCI SE (mudflaps only listed for this LCI model) the sill has a ridge extending right to the wheel arch necessitating a cut-out in the mudflap. The Msport sill is ridge-less near the front wheel arch.
I wonder if the sill of the pre-LCI SE car was also flat in the area?

Can someone tell me - does the sill on the pre-LCI SE E91 have a ridge running all the way to the front wheel arch or does it flatten out prior to getting there, like my LCI Msport E91 ?

Problem solved.

BMW do not offer mudflaps for the LCI E91 Msport, only the SE and this is what a garage had installed for the car's previous owner (see my previous post).

However there are front mudflaps for the pre-LCI Msport (part No 82 16 0404 794) and having bought some , I can see no reason why they wont fit my LCI Msport. Will do it at the weekend.

Irritatingly , the parts dept at my local BMW dealership didnt even mention that there are mudflaps available for the pre-LCI Msport- even when I showed them printouts of mjh93sa's car; leaving me to do all the searching. They may well have been unaware of this fact too, I suppose.

I thank mjh93sa for his 330 pics , as it was they that made me continue searching.
