Why is the i-drive knob is pre-lci model?

do you know if the Satellite resver will work in all modiles of bmw? i thought i might have read somewhere that they make them just for each modile. i might be wrong here but before i buy it just would like to know. and what would be the shipping coast to usa ill 62220

Because that's the CCC pre-lci/older idrive DVD based headunit and lower resolution screen, not the harddrive based CIC new LCI version with higher res screen.
