You get what you pay for. I paid 950 for a procede 8 months ago (yes, proceeds used to be that new shipped to ur door) and took a bath to sell it and spend another 900 for the Cobb. And I would do it again and again. But power was not my only priority.

And there are a lot more hard core folks on here that try everything an have spent a lot more.

Way to go cobb. I got my ETS FMIC, chargepipe, and downpipes waiting to go on once stage 2 drops. Hmmmm, before and after dyno's of a baseline, stage 1 stock car vs stage 2(dci, fmic, chargepipe, downpipe) would be nice to see and I'm a willing bastard to do it!!!

I'm guessing that you're comparing Procede's estimated crank hp figures vs the mustang rwhp dyno (which, of course, reads lower than a standard dynojet) which is posted on their website

make sure AP manager is updated. Plug your AP into AP manager and make sure check for beta firmware is selected as true, then check for updates. AP manager will update the AP device.

Or read the instructions, or watch Cobb's youtube videos if you are still lost

Do we need Windows for the updates?

Also does Cobb have a bogfix?

I understand how to do it. Just saying especially for these beta updates we don't know if there is a new one unless we plug it in everyday...is there a blog or somewhere we know when new maps or firmware is out?

Bogfix is a term primarily for piggybacks. You wont need to worry about bogging on the Cobb units.

We generally post most major updates and information to our blog and our facebook page. Go to blogs.cobbtuning.com or www.facebook.com/cobbtuning to check for updates. With the BMWs, however, we may not make a post about every update as we add ROMs as we will generally contact those users who send ROMs in directly when new firmware is ready. You can also subsribe to COBBTuning on twitter as well as we will also tweet when we update!

There is a flaw in that though. It seems as though it's quite often that there will be a firmware update that requires you to unistall the ap from the car first before doing the firmware update. Not really a big deal if you don't mind checking on a laptop and then holding off on doing the update to run down to your car and uninstall, then run back to you laptop to update the ap.

I just try to keep my eyes on this section for new cobb updates. I'm not sure if there is a part of the cobb site that has firmware updates, nor if they are as up to date as what we would see posted here.

We have only required an uninstall-reinstall cycle once for the BMW platform and should rarely ever need one in the future. I apologize for the inconvenience that process creates and we'll make sure to do our best at avoiding the need for it in the future.

For our "stable" platforms (those supported by normal release firmware), we generally recommend people who do not follow the forums or our website/blog to check for a update (not beta) using AP Manager once a month or so.

Regards-
Lance

Nah, I just have more important things to do in my life than run around like a retard with my AP and upgrade my firmware every week without any changes that benefit me. Have fun with your cardio routine.

I'll continue to check cobb's blog and e90post for relevant cobb changes.

funny how you are the only one complaining about it - have fun with your... whatever routine you do for life but it sounds really important

Personally on my car I think the throttle is super responsive. This was heightened after the HPFP, injectors, and software update, though it almost certainly was a result of the adaptations being reset and not the software itself.

Got the Cobb AP yesterday and after about an hour of cursing and bitching I finally got it to work. Just a side note when doing the install I highly recommend doing it during the week during Cobb business hours. in case you run into a problem, I on the other hand installed it on a Friday night and I was about to leave my car at local shop because I couldn't get it to work and no tech support until Monday...

I'm putting together some Dyno sheets as well as my experience with installation and the tune comparison between my Dinan stg 2 vs Cobb AP. just wanted to put some of what happen on here.

I was also running a Dinan Stage 2 flash prior to install. my guess this is why I was having issues.
once updated I plugged the Cobb into the car, it start dumping my rom but of course failed. I was aware of this since I talked to Cobb before hand, so moving on. After the error I tried to flash the tune. after about 2% it stopped. it went into a recovery mode. followed the display prompts and started it again. again after 2% failed Communication error. ok shut everything off and tried again and again and again.... at this point the car will not start of course. oh I forgot to mention once it started the flash the car was acting weird. the wipers were going off and my car kept beeping (Door tone sound). i walked away from the car cursing. cooled down, took the Cobb to my computer and double checked it was updated. everything came back ok. I tried once again. after the 3rd time the Cobb started the recovery process it got to about 90% and failed. started again right after and it finally completed. once this was resolved I flash 91 map took about 8min and the car was ready. took it out for a drive and gave it about a good 15 mile run before pulling on it. felt nice, first thought was power feels very similar to Dinan stg 2 but picks up better and holds longer and the dyno pretty much shows it. I will create a thread with all the info.

Thanks,
Jorge
