Unhappy Cigarette lighter and rear outlets now not working...

Hi guys -

Driving back just now from the dealer after the statutory service (oil change, cabin air filter change & computer updates), and realizing none of my power outlets (cig lighter and Mr. Roboto face, rear power outlets) aren't working.

So before I head back to them Monday (drag...), what did they do wrong? Anything I can do to check beforehand?

Thanks.
Been a while since my last visit to e90post.com.
Hope everyone's well...

Check your cigarette lighter fuse in the glovebox. I think its a 20amp. Replace that with one of the spares and your good to go. No need to waste time bringing it back to the dealer

Thanks guys. It definitely was the 20AMP fuse in slot #30.
Used the spare, but for some reason that one blew too.
Going to the Auto Zone to pick some more up tomorrow and will attempt.

Much, much gratitude.
Hope it isn't anything bigger.

Neither front nor back outlets were being used.
I just went through 3 fuses (out of a package of 5) and each were burned out.
Looks like I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow.

Thats strange. Let us know what it turns out to be I doubt there are but make sure there arent any coins or other small metal objects in any of the sockets.

Went in this morning. It's all good now. Although I forgot to ask what technician was doing differently than what I was doing when changing the fuses.
I change 'em and they were burning out, he does it and they don't.

And yes, he says, don't use all three outlets...and I haven't been (I can't imagine what I'd have plugged in all at one time...)

Mission complete.
Next?

Glad you got it fixed. As for not using all 3 at once, that is pretty much rubbish. You can use all three at once, you just have to make sure you don't overload the circuit. You have a nominal 12V system with a 20 AMP fuse, yielding a maximum power rating of 12x20=240W. So long as the 3 things you are powering consume less than 240W combined, you won't blow the circuit.

The typical portable DVD player will consume 20W to 30W, the typical cell phone charger between 5W and 10W. An iPod is somewhere around 3W (USB devices are typically limited to 500mA at 5.2V max, or roughly 3W.) So you could charge your phone, your iPod and run a portable DVD player all at the same time.

Make sure your robot wiring isn't loose and shorting out causing the fuse to blow over and over again..
