Golf Club Help
I haven't played in about 15 years. I'm looking for a new set of clubs, but I want to start with something inexpensive. I'm not dropping $400 to $1000 bucks for clubs yet. I looked at Golfsmith. They have several sets around $200 or less. I don't need a set of Pings yet. I'm considering myself as a beginner again. Any suggestions? (Top Flite, Nextt?, XPC?)

I have an awesome set of iron that would work real great for you. It would probably be the last set of irons that you will ever need. Also have a driver and putter. Let me know if you want to see them. It might be alittle out of your range though but I'm sure that we can work something out.

I played with 70's blades that were too short for a year or two and just stepped up to a set of Cobra cavity backs. They were +/-$500, but sooo worth it. It makes playing so much more enjoyable. I need to get out there and play...

I just dropped some serious coin on an iMac, so I'm limited to buying cheap clubs for now. I'm not planning on playing weekly anyway. I shouldn't sound so cheap, I can afford to buy more expensive clubs, but I'm afraid I have way too many other hobbies right now. Golf is way low on my list. I'm playing in a company tournament next month is the only reason I'm purchasing clubs at all. I may even sell them after I play a few times. The set I found has everything for under $200 Golfsmith has the Topflite XL. It got good ratings for a starter set.

I'm not trying to to talk you out of it but I nice set of clubs will make a big difference in golfing. Like Zba stated above, a set of cavity backs will be more forgiving and make playing golf a little easier.

The Top Flite and Nextt both have cavity backs 5-PW and a titanium driver with graphite shaft.

If you just looking for a set that you could play a handful of times, then you're golden with the $200 set. If you're hoping on turning pro like Matt or fine tune your game, you might want to step up alittle.. I have a set of Callaway Fusions w/ RCH graphite shafts that I would be willing to let go for $400.

make sure they are at least cavity backs. blades are impossible to hit as a beginner.
