Hey DimSum,

If I get my car to 325 specs by deleting the primary cat or getting a tune, would I be able to do the 325 to 330 conversion after?

Nope because the 323i is a 200HP/180tq 2.5L engine not a 3.0L. However with primary cats removal and high flow secondary cats and a tune, your able to push up to around 250-260hp on the crank. 20HP for the primary cat removal and about 30-40HP if you get a Gintani route for ECU tune. Speak to Craven 328, it’s about 800$usd to get it a retune from Gintani.

Right now with PBX and primary cat removal you’re looking around 240HP/220tq relatively speaking. Which is enough to pull side by side if not faster than a 328i. With a Gintani tune you should be in the middle between a 328-330.

DimSum, thanks for posting the bigger graph of your power AND torque increase. I like that one.

I was looking at the supersprint headers and secondry cats:
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...=789001.789002

Do you think there is any downside to getting these apart from the cost?
Is it very difficult to install due to lack of space?

My car has the N52 2.5L 218HP, which I believe is the same or very similar what you have in Canada.

Respects bro. The primary cat removal I will be doing that in the next week or two. Might even get headers. Gonna wait for the Gintani tune to become more popular before I try anything. Not going to rush anything just bought the car

PS. I found a really good shop for my muffler+resonator delete. Got some magnaflow tips on it sounds fucking amazing. The guy did an amazing job for the price.

+1 Muffler Delete sounds like a beast. My friend had it on his e90 before.
Unfortunate with the removal of the muffler you lose horsepower. (Dyno tested)
In order to do headers and high flow cats you must KEEP the OEM exhaust. As the OEM exhaust has optimized the backpressure for our engines.

The SuperSprint kit is amazing, just make sure you use OEM muffler as the Supersprint muffler does not show any gain in Horsepower. It is free flowing but it does not show any real significant improvement.

Make sure the headers you get is for the 2.5L, the supersprint unit is for the 3.0L engine.

You will also need O2 sims, so you will not throw a error code.

Hmmm... that's weird. The car feels a lot lighter. I got the resonator and the muffler taken off and when I picked it up it was heavy as fuck... The car kind of feels quicker? I couldn't have lost more then 3-4 horsepower... What did your dyno results show?

If I leave the muffler+resonator delete and get some performance headers + gintani tune around how much horsepower am I looking at? Just don't really want to get rid of the delete it sounds awesome with my tips

Thanks for the comments about the Supersprint kit. The only problem is the kit is designed for Left-hand-drive cars only. Since I'm in Australia, mine is RHD so I guess there is something that gets in the way.

John_01, I'm down in Australia too and am very interested in making this work out. I'll have an exhaust place here check it out and see what they can do.

I wouldn't mind removing the primary cat completely if it's only a mild increase in sound.

Does anyone know if a custom tune is necessary to get the best out of it or would you be ok with with something like a bms powerbox (which i have installed at the moment)

If you ask Craven, or Search the forum for a thread that say "The Headers have finally Landed" Craven has the 328i with headers and muffler delete. On that thread Craven posted a video and his car sounds Load as fuck. I ran the canyon with him this morning and damn. So if you want to know what it sounds like and know maybe what kind of HP you are looking at he would know.

BMS Powerbox is what I am running right now too.
No need to worry, once you remove the cats you'll feel the difference.

Something I'm still curious about is the effect of removing the O2 sensor and using a simulator circuit in its place.

Is the O2 sensor the same as the Lambda sensor (used for fuel mixture feedback), or is there a second sensor used for that purpose?

Well the O2 sensor checks the flow of exhaust air that comes out from where the headers are. If you put it through an oscilloscope it will be a continuous bell shaped wave form, the simulator will basically emulate/simulate that wave form so it will not cause an error in your car.

The Canadian 323i is acutally an Euro 325i with a Three-Stage Intake Manifold.

A simple ECU reflash will get you up to the European Spec 325i performance range.
So where can we get the reflash done? Through Craven 328? Any places in Canada?

Dimsum,

Can we pass emissions with the cat delete? What are the benefits/losses of cat delete over headers. I have the same car as you and looking to do a tune plus what else I can to boost the power.

no you cannot pass emissions with primary cat delete. Secondary yes.
A proper intake will also help your car.

I am working on the euro intake. A tune is in order too. The emissions testing contract for our area might end in December so I guess I will wait until then to think about this mod. I take it headers are just as bad as cat delete in terms of emission testing. Is this correct?
