Sound Volume watching DVD

Guys

I experience I large range in volume when switching between CD or Ipod compared to DVD. When i watch a DVD through idrive professional/Harman Kardon system the then switch to music - the sound is so much louder!

Is there any way to make them more similar?

TIA Paulf

I get exactly the same - have the volume right for listening from the HDD and you can hardly hear a DVD. Turn it up so you can hear the DVD and then switch back to HDD music and it blows the windows out....
