Available phones with office function

Is it me, or is the amount of phones very limited, which allow the office function and SMS compatibility?

a mate has just offered me a HTC D2 for a good price, but it isn't compatable, strange I'd have though such a recent phone would have been.

Yup, my new HTC desire is not SMS compatible.

Poor show, after SonyE always were. It was really useful to read texts on the I drive.

Agree, my Cayman allowed it on an old Nokia 5310i

Just blackberry at the moment... I contacted BMW and got this response:

"It would seem the Blackberry models with the most comprehensive functionality would be the Bold 9780 and Pearl 9105 as these models have Bluetooth ‘Profiles’ which allow for the synchronisation of Mobile phone book, addresses, contact images, E-mail and SMS. It would appear that snap-in adaptors are available for these models and can be sourced through a BMW Dealer.

With regard to our conversation yesterday I can confirm AG will not be producing a snap-in adaptor for either BMW or MINI for the following phones:

• Blackberry Curve 9300
• Blackberry RIM 9800 Torch

The reason for this is that they are too wide for the space in the front centre armrest. This is due to their width (at 60 and 62mm respectively) coupled with the fact that they both have lateral power connection points."

To make it more difficult - www.bmw.co.uk/bluetooth isnt always accurate!

I have the BlackBerry Torch. There is no snap-in cradle because of the reasons mentioned above but so what? Battery life is good anyway.

All of the office functions work correctly.

Howdo... Work paid the ~£70 for the adaptor... if it were my money it may be different. But apparently it adds to reception and, like you hinted at, charges. Personal choice i guess, but i prefer it hidden in the arm rest.

There is no adapator for the Torch is what I was confirming. even if there were, I wouldn't pay £70 for one and I never did for the Pearl. If I was in the car for many hours a day I probably would, but not worth it for my limited usage.

While on the subject, I've noticed the download scrolling, icon thingy, always seams to be running these days, on my idrive screen. Pretty sure it never used to do it, as much before.

Seems strange - only notice when using connected drive... What function you using?

No function I know of. The phones just connect via BT. The signal strength bar and phones name is shown in the top margin and the little whirly gig's spinning most of the time

Ah so its the 'transferring data from your phone' icon. Have you hundreds on contacts?
