Goodwood festival of speed

Thinking of taking the family for a long weekend (4 days)

Anyone been ??

Was it anygood ??

Went to Prescott Hill & thoroughly enjoyed it so thought about going to Goodwood.

Not cheap but not worried about that.

While we're on the subject, did anyone see the details of the PH supercar meet in Wiltshire in august?

I've been. It is a great day out. It is probably the best chance you will get to get close to a F1 car outside of having membership to the F1 paddock club.

The year I went, Hamilton was there with his McLaren. Mark Gene was there with the previous year's Ferrari. Plenty of classic stuff. Lots of opportunity to see stuff parked up. Good place to celebrity spot, as there are plenty of drivers past, present and future milling around.

Not sure about going for all the days as a lot of the runs are repeated. I'd look on the site and see what days they have stuff you want to see. This list changes right up until the day though - I remember being a bit disappointed as a few car/driver runs got cancelled at last minute.

Highly recommend it.

It's a top weekend. You won't regret it.

I'm exhibiting the campers, come along and say hello. We have a competition to win a free campervan holiday.

We used to go about 10 years ago, when I lived 'up that way'. Back then it was fantastic, but I guess as it has become more popular (and comercial) it may have lost some of its original 'charm'. As said, the chance to be 'up close' to the people and action is the best thing. Stood next to Stirling Moss in the queue for the loo and behind Johnny Herbert (who was then still in F1) to go over the foot bridge. Had to laugh though, Carl Foggarty was there looking very miserable because nobody was coming up to him for an autograph (I don't think anyone recognised him - he was only World Superbike Champion at the time).

If you go - prepare for long traffic jams to get in - every bit as bad as a Silverstone GP.

It's OK. Glad I didn't have to pay for the tickets though...

My brother and I went a few years ago and really enjoyed it, traffic wasn't too bad but we only went on the Sunday and arrived quite early so this may be why. I would recommend it, not attending this year but I will probably make it next year.
