New 19" wheels.

I'm contemplating changing my 18" rims over to 19" but I'm also thinking of the drawbacks.

The upshot is pleasing aesthetics, but the caveats are - extra cost for 19" tyres when having to replace - less mpg (if this is correct) - a firmer riding car - an increase in insurance premium - invalidated warranty (if this is true).

So are any of the above concerns inaccurate?

I mean ffs its not as if 18's are exactly small!

I know - I always look at mine and wish for 19s, but a few years ago, 18s would have been absolutely massive!

19" Is your only option in my opinion. I was thinking about fitting 18" mv3's but they're so common on e9xx's i decided it was a waste of time. Plus they don't fill the arches enough....look far too small for the car. I moved from 17" on my msport e91 to 19" csl reps. There's no real difference in how the car handles or rides. Was going to keep the old alloys for the winter but there's no need to change. ....Ive hit a couple of pot holes too with no issues.

Go for it....best decision you'll make for the car

extra cost for 19" tyres when having to replace - True

less mpg (if this is correct) - I don't see that would be true, but I can't be arsed to try and disprove it.

a firmer riding car - arguably not if the tyres are non RFT's

an increase in insurance premium -
If you stick with OEM wheels I don't see what difference it would make, they would have come as standard from the factory

invalidated warranty (if this is true) Really, on what grounds!

Thanks Hotcoupe.

I purchased the beemer from 'Lexus' with a 12 month lexus warranty and it lists non standard manufacturer wheels as a no-no.

I'm hankering after a set of staggered 19" CSL reps from BM autosport when he gets them back in stock.
