I agree re the steering wheel - my car is SE 'cos I was happy with the standard kit as it has sports seats and suspension anyway but the steering wheel bugged me so I've ordered one of the new M3 one's on eBay.

Enjoy the car!
Have to agree re steering wheel. Although it's supposed to be a 'sports' wheel, the texture of the leather just feels wrong to me. I much preferred the RX8's wheel in terms of grip and precision. Am I right in assuming that the M-sport wheel is the same dimensions as the SE, but has the 'ventilated leather grips?' (For want of a better description).

I think the M-Sport wheel is slightly thicker - at least it feels that way to me. I test drove an M-Sport and the car I collect tomorrow has the standard 'Sport' wheel which isn't nearly as nice as the 'ventilated grips' one.

I was given a link to an eBay dealer a few days ago who supplies the new M-Sport wheel as well as the forthcoming E92 M3 wheel - all original parts - and so I've ordered one.

The M sport steering is a lot chunkier - you can feele the diffference.
Its also slightly smaller in appearance.

Keys - I have a ring on my car key and have a sprung hook for my other keys. So I walk around with the hook attached - when in the car detach and keep the house etc keys elsewhere. I can't stand the rattling noise.

RE: Convertible I was a bit concerned however I can count on one maybe two hands the number of times I've had the roof down in the last year. The missus was never a massive fan of wind-in-your-hair effect and on short journeys it hardly seems worth it, on long motorway journeys other than on a still day it can be a bit of a pain. Don't get me wrong convertibles are lovely but I think for the benefit we got I don't feel like I've lost anything really. There's definitely a bit more of a pose factor - my previous car stood out more in a way than the new one (helped by 19" ACS wheels probably) but the new one walks all over the old in just about every other aspect.

Definitely recommend SE drivers get Sport steering wheel if they can.... makes the car IMHO.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the 3er but what are "blacklines"?

Was it easy to polish out? I'm nervous about leaving dull marks on the paintwork in its place. I might give the dealers one chance to put it right (there were some more severe marks - though still not proper scratches, on the bonnet) then get the professionals in and charge the dealer Doubt that'll work tho.

Blacklines are either Dealer (£££££), Ebay (£££) or if you're lucky like I was, second hand on here (£).

I cannot understand why the E90/1 do not come as standard with the blacklines??????
I thought the days of old-fashioned horrible orange indicators were gone since the early E36 days. Even my last E36 ('98 325 tds Sport-Pack) came with proper clear indicators at the back.

Come on BMW - what the hell are you playing at!!!!

I am only now interested in the 'Blackline' option as my wife's E91 touring will be arriving in July. Are these 'blackline' lights original BMW or 3rd party?

Cheers, Rick.

The 'blacklines' are a BMW product and are available from the dealer.

I was originally not sure about them .. the standard tail lights look ok to me and I didn't want some sort of 'max power' boy racer aftermarket look.

Now I have them on the car I am converted. They look very nice indeed.

Spotted some for around £160 +S&H of £35 is that sounding about right?

Just had a look at the pictures on here and I really do like the look over the standard ones, my car will be Le-Mans blue and it really makes the back end a bit messy with the normal style lights on.

A former forum member got mine (via ebay I think) for around £140.

The only ones listed right now are similar to the price you have:

May be worth trying the dealer - probably similar price.

Somethin seems wrong with thoseprices.. I was offered 140quid mail order from cotswold bmw, but my dealer was going to dit them free as part of pdi for 165 which is the RRP if I recall correctly. The idea was to have them on the car from collection, they have arrived at dealership today so I think next sat it'll go in and get a valet (again) and have them fitted.

Needforspeed: did you spot any swirl marks on your car when you collected? I suspect it depends on the light and how closely you look. I felt there should be none but there are quite a few.
