Have you any aftermarket lighting?

Check your tail light connection and contacts. You might need to clean them.

I have Led error free lights and interior lights and I have the GB programming from LTBMW too.

Hard to diagnose but Error light is related to exterior lights only.

Namely the tailights, reverse lights, and brake lights are the common culprits.

i had a left side tail light trunk lid give me that error, it wasnt the bulb nor contacts. took it to the dealer and they replaced the bulb fixture under warranty.
3 days later another bulb error pops up, right side tail light trunk lid. same issue, talking to the service rep they are not under recall but have a high rate of failure.

also it would go away and come back on sometimes.

I have CPO warranty left or would I need to have maintenance warranty in order to get the problem resolved.

one better..
i had my brake light coming on (rear pads) and a bulb message..passenger side daytime head light...

i changed my brakes & sensor (light didn't go away) then another light came on like traction control was disabled with an exclamation point...

then i topped off the brake fluid reservoir and my head light came back on and all the warning lights went away...

haha!!

I wonder if I can get my car fixture replaced even though I'm out of warranty. I purchased a different warranty that wasn't from the BMW dealership.

Some of the bulbs have what looks like springs for elements

I had one passenger angel eye bulb light giving occational faults and I am guessing vibration 'hooking' the element back up and the light coming back on and the fault turning off.

Ended up taking the bulb out of the metal housing and replacing for $2 instead of $85 + $125 for a new bulb in its housing plus installation at the dealer.
