Press Release: 2011 335i / xDrive Sedan Performance Edition

PRESS RELEASE + Expand
The BMW Performance Edition brings more horsepower, more torque and unlimited exhilaration to your Ultimate Driving Machine.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - July 20… Performance breeds excitement and the BMW Performance Edition for the 2011 335i / xDrive Sedan ensures that new car buyers are in for that extra thrill beyond the outstanding performance that can already be realized with these exciting vehicles. Customers can now option their vehicles with a special BMW Performance Edition (option code ZMZ) that includes an all-new Power Kit, black kidney grilles and a “BMW Performance Edition” badge for only $550.

The BMW Performance Edition for the 335i highlights a Power Kit which consists of engine tuning software (no additional hardware):

Increases the engine power output from 300 hp to 320hp and torque from 300 lb ft to 317 / 332 lb ft (manual / automatic transmission); this is the same horsepower rating as the 335is!

Acceleration from 0-60 mph is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard model and 0.5 seconds faster than the standard model from 50 mph to 75 mph.

Emissions and fuel consumption ratings are unaffected by the power upgrade.

Black kidney grilles and a BMW Performance Edition badge will visually identify these Performance Edition vehicles from other 3 Series vehicles.

The BMW Performance Edition is offered only for a limited time on 335i Sedans through the end of 2011 which will ensure that owners of these vehicles will belong to a very special club of performance purists.

BMW is also pleased to announce that the contents of the BMW Performance Edition will be made available to existing 135i and 335i customers. Pricing to purchase the contents of this edition as a retrofit will be announced in August, 2011.

Previous Info:

This just in via the July BMWNA Sales Roundtable Broadcast:

To send the E90 335i sedan off into the sunset on a high note (production ends Oct.), BMWNA has announced a E90 335i Performance Edition.

Here are the vitals on the E90 335i Performance Edition:
  • Option code: ZMZ
  • Stage 1 Power kit = +20 hp/+32 tq
  • .02 faster in 0-60mph
  • Black Kidney Grilles (stock ones in the trunk)
  • Performance Edition Badge
  • Car must be equipped with Sport/M-Sport package (must have increased top speed code 840)
  • Price = $550
According to the broadcast, this will be available on August production 335i sedans. There will also be a dealer-installed retrofit for a similar price. More details forthcoming soon.

This comes on the heels of the E92 coupe and E93 cabrio receiving special Edition Exclusive & M Sport Edition models.

*Please note that the image used on our homepage is not the 335i Performance Edition. It's just a BMW Performance parts equipped sedan.

So you get the increased power of the Power Kit but without the radiator and upgraded fan, for about $400. Nice.

Nice. That's a package that should have always been offered.

Not bad. I would love to have +20hp for under 600 bucks.

Why not shove the Z4is engine and call it a day.
Really sad to let the E90 model go, I think E9X 3 series deserve the E46 reputation.

I don't understand why people are saying this is stupid. I would agree that aftermarket tune would provide better gains but I'd rather take a power increase rather than floor mats, different colored wheels, and trim like they're offering for e92 and e93
