I'll PM you later this week. But since I'm spending the weekend (well the sleeping part of it anyway) at my extended family, well my plan is leaving MTL in the afternoon and having dinner at their place (which happens to be 1 hour away from the track, i guess i miscalculated earlier).

We should probably receive an information packet with final details... but I guess we have to show up at around 7AM (?) at the track.

I'm happy you got to sign up. Yeah Baby!

I might be apt to try the RE-11 or AD08 next time out myself.
If I were to get track rims I would probably not go with street/track tires like the RE-11's and would probably go for (i believe they are called) Michelin CUP tires.

Those TR's need spacers. How much of a hassle is it doing that at the track with a jack?

I have spacers on my rims. It is as easy as installing your rims. I am sure there are tons of other rims out there that fit the M3. Lots of sponsors that will provide all sorts of inexpensive and light weight solutions.

The Michelin CUP tire is a good tire (do they still make it???), but had short wear life. Advan 07, Direzza SS Z1, Bridgestone g-Force (see my previous posts) I think are all better choices. I havent tried the RE11 but will likely try that or the Advan 08 assuming I can get it to fit my rim size.

43 levels ahead of myself too. Baby steps. Trying to remember that song from Depeche mode that Alex would cite ... We'll see if I made things better or worse for the track.

Sorry to type this while my mouth is full...

Instructors and advanced drivers can get there if they want the 17th.. (an extra day)... for the newbies and intermediates, we only get 18th and 19th.

I will show up at the track on the morning of the 18th at 07:30. You can always check it out if you arrive early on the Friday, but you will only be a spectator... but it ends normally no later than 17:00.

No brake pads for me. You really need to be a serious participant to start changing pads at the track. Ask the mechanic how your pads are... Again with 10000 km, and the way we drive on a daily basis... brakes should be fine. *DON'T USE YOUR HANDBRAKE AT THE TRACK*

PS Don't forget to visit Chris for the helmet

At 10,000K, you won't need to have a spare set of pads for your drive event. I am at 25,000 kms with 7 track days and I still have a lot left.

Access your service info from the dash, it will tell you how much front brake left, and rear brake left. I have 7,000 kms left for the front and 10,000 kms for the rear.

No since your brakes are not extremely hot right afer a regular drive... But since my mistake of last year, I use it only when I'm on an incline or other rare occasions.

we should ride together... for the majority of the drive... It should end around 4 or 5... some people won't go out on the last session because they are tired.

Jeans or cotton pants... make sure you bring a long sleeve shirt... but they should let you drive in a short sleeve one. but you never know... Velcro shoes is fine... no gougounes, flip flops, sandles, slippers, high heels...

changing oil should be accompanied with changing the filter, the latter costing less than $20. Otherwise you have clean oil going through a dirty filter and back to the engine (LOTS of dirty oil in an oil filter).

It's like taking a shower and then wearing clean underwear. It goes together!
