Maybe I haven't seen a post, but does 2011 e93 have the same clutch set up? Does it have CDV to remove....didn't see one on the supplier website.

Looks like it. Same PN: 21526764872 in a E93 335i 05/2011.
And looks like the M3 has a valve with no or less restriction (PN: 21522283914) Cheaper than the modified ones, and easier to get Have not tried it yet, but it’s on order. |

Going to tackle this job tomorrow morning.
One question that I haven't seen come up yet is, which is superior- Removing the valve completely or replacing with the modified valve? I assume that removing the CDV completely will yield an even more free flow than the modded version. Anyone drive their car with it both ways?

Here are some more pictures and my input for anyone considering this. I hope they can help someone in the future.
2007 E90 335 The 1-2 shift feels so much better! Great improvement over stock. Other upshifts feel good but the difference isnt as dramatic. I wouldnt suggest this to anyone who doesnt drive their car hard. Often. Here are some pictures. from the drivers side Close up on the valve Clap in place The only thing holding it in place are these two tabs. Pictured here 90% removed. CDV removed completely. All done. Like I was never there.

that's some great pictures. I got mine done back in the summer and it's been great so far.
Your car looks pretty clean under than mine. I had a hard time getting the tips out since they facing the other side. I eventually got it though. |

ok so, does the CDV only prevent damage to the drivetrain from boy racers? or does it actually make clutch engagement smoother?
i just test drove my first manual bmw the other day, an 06 330xi. damn is that thing fast anyway, i'm a notice at manuals but i noticed upshifting was incredibly smooth, absolutely no lurching. however, getting into first smoothly was a real bear, it always shuddered a little bit or stalled out. would the CDV help with getting into first, but remove those really nice smooth upshifts? would the upshifts become more lurchy? |

From time to time I have serious clutch judder when pulling away from standstill in first gear.
Does anyone have experience of removing the CDV getting rid of clutch judder? I have read elsewhere that it can solve the problem. Thanks! |

If you accidentally get a dead clutch pedal from air in the line, the only good way to bleed the clutch is with a Motive Power Bleeder. I suggest if you are going to do this mod, spend the $60 on the power bleeder had have it on hand before you pull the CDV. You'll use the power bleeder every two years to flush the brakes anyway, so it is well worth the investment.

Getting Air in the line can be hell, reservoir has 2 compartments
Please be aware that the clutch line is fed brake fluid through the same reservoir as the brakes. However the fill lines for the brake, and clutch are different and separated. The clutch is fed brake fluid through the very back of the brake reservoir. So a quick glance may show the brake reservoir full, but you may not notice the clutch reservoir is bone dry. Pumping air into this system will ruin your day, and you may be flat bedding it to the shop.

M3 valve is way bigger in diameter. And would guess as big hole as the modefied ones. (Maybe some even sell the M3's claming it's a "modefied" one to higher price? So if you just can't remove the valve. But need a replacement due to hose length or other things. The M3 valve PN: 21 52 2 283 914 has no restriction. Now my car has no lugging or jerking under shifting anymore. |

I clamped the hose, and switched the valve to the one from M3. Then I went to bleed the clutch. Attached a vacuum bleeder to the slave cylinder at gearbox with reservoir completely full. And lid off. After some vacuum use I checked the reservoir: Still full to the brim. But the pedal was now spongy. Felt like air all the way Tried again with the pedal pressed. Nothing. Got help so one pressed the pedal. And I was under the car trying to manually bleed. Nothing Used a 50ml syringe (from local pharmacy) trying to press fluid from the slave cylinder upwards. Did not work at all. Both with pedal out or in there was not possible to press any fluid inn to the slave cylinder and upwards Pulled of the clutch hose going out from the reservoir. And used the same syringe to press brake fluid down the hose until clean fluid was coming out down at the slave cylinder. Bingo Easy peacy. Last edited by Jan E.; 09-16-2014 at 07:54 AM.. |

I just picked up a White E90 2 weeks ago and I love the car. I was having trouble with 1st gear and driving off. It kept popping out of 1st gear 2/10 times which was killing me. I thought it was me not knowing how to shift correctly coming from a Si and the difference in engagement points. But I did lots of research on this mod and I just took mine out last night. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! It took me just a little under an hour with the DIY posted here on this forum. I am now smoothly pulling out of 1st at every light and stop sign. Hasnt popped out no matter how hard I try to replicate what was happening to me the past two weeks. Any way, do this if you havant. Great, cheap mod that works! Thank you forum!

Yes, the M3 CDV will fit.... I think....
At least it fit on my 320si (original pn: 21526765120) I see that RealOEM.com lists pn:21526764872 on the 335i. And I see on other forums that some people claim that 335i don’t have as restricted CDV. And many 335 owners say the clutch feels much better after a mod job... So I don’t know. But I’m sure many 335 owners inn here will be real happy if someone wanted to check if this $10 pn: 21522283914 fits. And post photos of the original 335 CDV vs the M3 CDV. But why should the M3 fit 335i also? -The tuning shops that sell modified CDV's only sell one type that fits all models it seems... For the ones in doubt: you have a CDV for sure if it has 2 white stripes on it and the number 25 printed on it. Or any white markings I recon. The M3 pn: 21522283914 are all black, with no markings. But why BMW call the M3 part a CDV I don't know. As "LateBraking" called it: Well, technically M3's do have a CDV....it's uh...just not a V that uh....D's the C. |

hmm interesting, i think i'm just gonna retrofit my stock one by popping out the center plastic POS and then just re-install it.. its free. I'm just gonna c-clamp it well and see how it goes.. Horefully, i dont need to bleed it.. there seems to be 50/50 consensus on this one...
