Do you guys think N55 midpipes with AR downpipes would be a good combo?

Would be LOUD. And totally catless. Ok for racing but I wouldn't do it on the street.

Looked through the GPS of my car and found a Munich address. Anyone on the forum had a Le Mans Blue / Beige 6 Speed 335is Near Maryland? Trying to track down the old owner (bought my car from carmax)

335is

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to throw money on my is. I was planning on getting the JB4 for the first thing but read a lot of negative reviews on it for the is. Just wondering what is more bang for its buck on performance with the 335is

bang for buck - JB4

Ease of convenience - Cobb

Personally I went with Cobb for ease of use. The N54 AccessPorts can be had for about $450 in the for sale forum.

Not going to get anything from the JB4 unless you are going to do other mods too.
Cobb is cheap & easy. Procede is nice. DINAN is overpriced. But, you get the warranty.

Any suggestions on exhaust/mods?

I have UR catted downpipes with my stock "is" exhaust. It sounds terrible. Cold starts sound like shit now, and any medium-heavy throttle around 4k rpms sounds like complete shit. I figured with keeping cats, and the secondary cats, that the sound wouldn't be too bad, but wow it sucks.

I don't really want to spend that much more on the car, since I've spent around $10k since buying it a few months ago.

Should I go with a full downpipe-back exhaust? I like the VRSF single 3.5", and the price ...

Or can I hack up the stock exhaust and add some resonators or mufflers to fix it?

If anyone is in the West-LA area and wants to hear how catted dp's sound with stock exhaust let me know, LOL.

I don't think doing anything to the stock exhaust is going to make it sound any better.

I read on here that people put resonators in place of the secondary cats and/or inline with them and that fixes the rasp. However, those were all 335i, not sure if the same trick would work with our modified exhausts.

What is everyone on here running for downpipes and exhaust?

Cool

I am struggling with this also. I have a 2011 335is E93 with vrsf Catless DP's.
I really notice the rasp due to the convertible and you really hear it. It bothered me a lot and I have tired to get used to it but I am working on trying to put some resonators on but really want to keep the mid-pipe cats as I do not want the smell or smoke. Another member here Dr G was able to put the Vibrants back toward the cross pipe. This looks to be doable.

I just feel the 'is' had the most awesome sounding factory exhaust and now the rasp pisses me off as I do not want it sounding ricey.

All I have done exhaust wise is the Down-pipes. COBB now has the catted Down-pipes and was considering this but from what you are saying it sounds like it would not really help much so resonators has to be the way to go. I do not want to touch the mufflers or OEM pipes.

Yeah, I thought going catted DP would eliminate rasp, but it only changed the RPM range where it happens.

I encountered this issue as well, DP's and 335is exhaust is a bit too raspy at times.

I also tried an AE dual cat back with DP's and it sounded good but not how I wanted it to sound, low deep rumble sound.

I also tried the PE without DP's and thought the stock 335is exhaust sounded better without DP's vs. the PE without DP's.

While considering to get rid of the PE, I reinstalled the DP's and the sound changed to something that puts a huge smile on my face each and every time I hear it. My friends compliment me about the sound and one of my friends reassured me with these exact words 'As much as I hate stroking your ego, definitely had an eargasm when you took off. Don't change a thing that bitch sounds amazing! But yea sounds really really good. Like TT Lambo status.'

335is + DP's + PE = 'Eargasm'

Also like the fact that the PE is an OEM BMW Performance part and resale value is good. Was thinking about keeping my stock 335is exhaust but am debating the benefit of holding on to it.

What I don't like are the exhaust tips the PE comes with, thin as soda cans! But not terrible looking, will eventually replace with some black chrome double walled tips TIG'd.

If you're thinking of selling the stock exhaust, I have a buddy who is interested in picking one up for his non-is. Would appreciate a PM if so!

Anyone on here with the DCT do a single turbo kit? I'm debating on doing the RB setup or the VTT900 setup. I have two deals I'm currently working with for slightly used setups and the difference between the RB and the single kit would only be $1000-$1500. It would normally be no questions asked single all the way, but I'm worried about the DCT. Could I run low boost on the single kit and shoot for 550-600 wheel then crank up the boost when I upgrade the clutch packs later on down the road? Or should I just do the RB's and call it a day? I feel like I'll get tired of 500-550 max with the RB's for how much I'm going to spend. The VTT900 kit is nice cause I can just crank up the boost....

What are everyone's thoughts? Maybe I should try and set the record for the highest HP single turbo DCT. If anyone wants to donate to a clutch fund, I will test my stock setup and keep running the power up!?!?

Thanks for the reply! So in your experience changing the IS exhaust for the AE and the PE both eliminated the rasp?

Yes.

I heard DP's with muffler delete and vibrant resonators and didn't like the sound. No rasp but I just didn't think it sounded good.

I have my full cat-back AE dual exhaust with the honey comb tips in prisitine condition for sale as well.

Cool Found Some Smaller Resonators

I found these from Aero Exhaust. They have all sizes even a smaller 6.5 inch resonators. I am thinking the 10.5 may be able to squeeze in and still keep the secondary cats.

Look at their selection.
Any thoughts?

I also found this one on Ebay. WOuld it be to short?

So i've read that installing exhaust tips can change the sound of the exhaust. Also, someone lost the exhaust burble when he upgraded. I have some 3.8 cyba tips but haven't had them installed yet. I hope it doesn't change anything. Will try and post pics this weekend!

Got installed, here's a before and after. As far as sound, it does seem a bit louder but it's probably just me. I'm just glad the snap crackle and pop is still there
