No spacers for now otherwise def rub... I used it have 2 finger gap rear and 3 in the front... Now both I can barely get one finger it's bloody low! :-( just want it little low not this much as. Want to enjoy the ride.. It's a 335d I want to enjoy its torque but can't with the stance so low. Am I being stupid regretting this move to go coils or will it become better after raising? |

hey bro!
looks awesome decked! lol the ride quality is defo a bif difference from stock but as tyso said its the price of the visual gains you get! leave it is it is for a couple of weeks especially for gaydon! in the meantime order the tool you need to adjust it (i think it was missing which is why your car is proper decked at the moment) lol and then after gaydon have a play with the settings...give it a month or so and see how you feel about it after that!

Hey mate, Sorry I couldn’t meet you yest. I needed to get home quickly after a long day out and only got home for 10 so yeah. The ride quality is crap To be frankly honesty and that’s down to two things: 1. RFTs 2. Slammed! I’m going to raise the car on Wednesday and probably go 30mm all round or so (couldn’t be adjusted as the guy I bought off accidentally forgot to include the spanners – it’ll be on it’s way today as I’ve spoken to him now) as this is just way too low – I scrapped in my own drive and it’s flat as piece of paper LOL. I don’t think I’d want to leave it this low even for Gaydon man, it’s just too low and I won’t be able to keep up with you guys on the way UP lol! Can’t go too fast incase I go over a pothole or some sh*t and that would ff everything up hahah. If I leave it till after Gaydon, then I’ll have to wait till weekends to take it back to Dips as I’ve NO CLUE on how to adjust the ride height although I have a local chap who could show me. If this is the price I have to pay for visuals, I’d rather have it back up, not look the nuts but actually enjoy the ride and not have to calculate which angle to approach a speed bump the height of my ankle LOL. Man I sound OLD but I guess that’s just me. Even tho I wanted it lower, I’d rather stick to subtle low not slammed – as IMO subtles ones generally the best ones. So a subtle drop, some subtle changes and then I’m good to go. I don’t want to throw my savings on a car so don’t want to over do things LOL... just nice subtle things and that’s it haha. |

hahah ahh man!!! would have been good til after the show but i understand what you mean and why you wanted it raised sooner rather than later!
once its a little higher play with the shock settings...it may make the difference you are looking for

It is very low and I don't know what to adjust the damp settings to lol. I'll be making a call to BC this lunchtime to get more info LOL.
Sumil, yeah I do want to but can't help think I'm ruining the perfectly rideable stock look and throwing around money on something that could take weeks / months to perfect..... let's see. I'll deffo raise, adjust the damp setting to make if soft and not dashboard bouncy LOL and go from there... does anyone know anything about these damp settings etc? |

Your knowledge on 335's is very limited then. when the 335 coupe came out it came equipped with EXACTLY the same suspension as the sport. 100% fact.
Only the E92 335 SE's though. Not softer for comfort but identical suspension.

we are all here learning new things everyday! abruptness is not necessarily the way forward regarding these things!
regarding the suspension set ups mate, if its 100% fact can you please post up where you got this information from? as i am sure its a very very grey area for many e9x owners.

Sorry, didn't mean to be abrupt.
I am not going to bother searching for you mate. I had a 335d many years ago. It was an SE, most here back in 2006-2007 were all aware the suspension on 335SE is the same as M sport. Research it buddy and you will find it. Same springs, same shocks, same set-up & same ride height. I must reiterate this is for E92 (coupe) 335 SE only. Not E90,91,93 SE's. For those SE's it had to be spec'd as an option and not standard like E92 335 SE's. I'm surprised people are still not aware of this. But some people have only jus started to learn. The E92 335 SE have sports seats exactlythesame as Msport too did you know.

Yeah they do. They look classier too. The front end does not look as good as the Mspprt though
In my opinion the rear of the SE 335 looks better as you can see the twin pipes clearer. The Msports diffuser takes away from the twin pipes a little I feel.

Aero lip does look good. Love the rear of the SE! Also the 230's rims are just the best looking rims going!

That's fine if all your interested in is how the car looks,if you want a car that's driveable, you also need to play around with the settings to reach a compromise between both, and erring on the side of whats a practical car to drive on a daily basis. Did you not have any input on what you wanted? If you just wanted a slammed look, that's certainly what you've got! Fitting coilovers is easy, the hard part is getting the settings correct, and is something that is best done by someone who knows what there doing, and in conjunction with what you want/need. I suggest you look around locally for a specialist who knows what there doing, and could sort out the settings that are required in a relatively short period of time. Have you had a four wheel alignment carried out since having the coilovers fitted?

Yeah I did my research before jumping into a 335 and was fully aware of seats and suspension being the same across the 335 but for some reason every other 335 I looked at seemed just that tiny bit lower - maybe it was just me, but dw, I spoke to alot of people and knew those things before hand. If that wasn't the case, I'd have held out for an M Sport, but believe it or not, I actually prefer the 230 twist alloys to the MV4, but everyone is differ eh I'm looking into the Front Aero Lip and Rear Spoiler but only and ONLY once I've sorted the susp. Bloody addictive and eating into the savings so need to be careful LOL - suspension is bugging me. Looks MEAN, everyone at work here has said it looks like the car is eating the wheels... got a few petrol heads around her.. few Porsche GT3, 335i's etc etc... The guy I bought these coils off from this forum has just sent the spanners through the post, gurateed to arrive tomorrow, which is a BIG relief. I can get it sorted by Wednesday and be comfortable, FINGERS CROSSED. If not, then I'll take it off after a few weeks back to stock and put up for sale so yeah.. I'm new to the modding scene and the beauty of doing things yourself really appeals but a shame that the fear of taking something apart and messing something up puts me off from doing these things myself.. still, adjeusting the damp settings can't be rocket science.. afterall, it's only turning the dials to hear clicks and trial and error LOL... Maybe I should have just got your springs off your Sumil (and not have to worry about so many settings... then I have to think about shocks etc!) Arghhhh, Vat to doooooooo. lolllll. |

Anyone know of a specialist in the Hampshire / Surrey / Greater London area who could get it to my preferred ride quality in a relatively short period of time? |

non RFT tyres will improve your ride comfort by quite a bit. Consider that as your first option in trying to work with the drop I'd say.
Love the look of the drop by the way but with speed bumps and our crappy roads etc I'd raise it a but! |

Don't give up on them just yet, have a play with the adjustment and ride height. The E92 looks soo much better with the arch gap removed....
I've lowered mine on springs only and will update the shocks at some stage but even now the ride is still pretty harsh. Its the state of the roads!! However, I will put up with it as its definitely worth it for the look! Get some spacers, a front spoiler and M3 lip spoiler and you'll be happy as larry! |
