My guess is it is condensation also. But to be sure, you have to LOOK AT THE OIL. Everyone here is guessing. You can drain a little engine oil out or unscrew your oil filter cap and peek in at the oil. If it looks like a milkshake, then you got water in your oil. If it looks like normal oil, then chances are that its just normal oil.

Condensation? That is a lot of water for normal condensation. I would be looking to coolant slowly seeping into the oil. Head gasket is the usual suspect, but due to lack of coating on the top of the head, the water could be coming from the intake, oil cooler, or other low water flow source. As others have said look in the oil filter housing and if the oil looks normal thing look hopeful for condensation. Get the oil changed without hesitation, as just a little water (even from condensation) can displace enough oil to ruin the big end. Take the car out at least once a week and not only get it hot but run it. Various loads and a good highway run to keep the condensation at bay.

I changed out the oil and checked the oil filter, everything looks good as there is no sign of sludge in the car. It just comes to show that these cars are meant to be driven! Thanks for the help everybody!

Definitely condensation,
nothing to worry about, short trips to work will do that. You can wipe it of clean, go for a spin ( about an hour drive ) open the cup again and check it out, it should be clean with a bit of misty oil residue. Hope that helps... |
