It usually takes about a week to get updated in the system, although, they do not let you know that it gets completed. You'll either have to give them a call or go to the DMV (or online) and order a new registration that says sunshade on it.

Thanks. The DMV website states that I will receive a new registration card, but didn't state that I had to request it. I guess I would've been waiting a long time.
