I LOVE the Logic 7. I thought initially my car wasn't coming with it and honestly I was kindly choked up about it.

I got the car yesterday (actually has logic 7) and the system KICKS ASS.

One thing to note... If you love bass, turn OFF logic 7 sound processing. Put the bass up to almost full, turn up 100hz up about 80%... it sounds SICK.

The Logic 7 system doesn't impress when you leave the EQ on the default settings. If you set the EQ properly the Logic 7 really starts to shine and is pretty damn good for a stock system. There is a thread in the audio section that covers optimal EQ settings. Here is what I use (mostly hard rock) and the bass hits really well.

E92 with iDrive

100 +2
200 -4
500 -4
1K -6
2K -7
5K -4
10K Max Positive

TREB +5
BASS +5
FADER -3

First, let me start out by saying that I think the Logic 7 sound from 250 Hz and up sounds great for a stock sound system. It’s just that lower end that needs a little help. A little more power to the speakers under the seats, and a sealed sub with some good power to drive it is the answer.

So, first I tapped into the sub wires coming out of the stock amp, split the wires into 2 separate inputs (Sub & speakers under seats) and put them into an Audio Control LC6i line converter. This unit also has a sub gain control, which I mounted in the center console.

From there I went into one of the new digital amps from JL, an HD 600/4. I must say that these new HD amps from JL are very impressive! This amp that I picked will send 150W to the speakers under the seats, and 300W to the Sub. Speaking of the sub, I choose a JL 10W3v3, which I find to be very musical sounding in a small sealed enclosure.

Next was building the sealed enclosure (about .625 cu ft ) for the Sub … I choose a rear firing box and I decided to mount the equipment on the front of the box, so you can get at the stuff when you put the seats down.

Next was tuning the gains and x-over points between the subs and under seat speakers. I found bring the x-over point up a bit on the speakers under the seats made the transition between the Sub and seat speakers work best, and I could drive the seat speakers a little more with a higher x-over point.

Now the results ….. all I can say is ‘HOLY F’n CRAP!!’ This system sounds incredible!!! I wasn’t sure if I should add more power or replace the other drivers with Morel, or Dynaudio, or just keep them stock. Well boys and girls, no need for changing out all the drivers … just boost the low end of your system and you will be jumping for joy!!

I want to do something like you did with your system but I'm all about my certified warranty. Does this setup do anything to your warranty?

While we're on the topic, do different models come with different Logic 7 settings?

My e92 has "Music" and one other setting (I can't recall the name); I see others citing "Theater" and "Concert Hall", which don't appear on my settings.

What's the deal? Something to do with iDrive, model year, etc.?

Incidentally, I think Logic 7 sounds wonderful. It takes some dialing in, and the OP is certainly right to think that at 300km the speakers have barely had time to break in. From my vantage point, the system is just a bit too forward in the treble; it hurts my ears at times. I consider my ears highly tuned.

nope. install amps and subs won't void your warranty. I went to 3 different dealers for service and none of them say anything. and my system has a typical upgrade. 1300W RMS Infinity amp, 2 10" Kicker and a Lo/hi adapter . the setup looks very clean actually. the amp and wires are almost invisible, unless a person is very short.

Well, here are my current settings from my E92 coupe (note that 4 door and convertible would probably have different acoustical values). I hope this helps you all out there enjoy the Logic 7 more I did actually post optimal EQ settings prior (w/ the help of Orb, thank you) and these are current ones after playing with various types of music these seem to be the best overall settings for my ears:

1 flat
2 -3
3 +3
4 +5
5 +3
6 -2
7 +3

T +6
B +6
F -3

not really. Just add in a little where the system left off. I rarely have to turn the sub vol to 25%. the music just sounds a lot warmer with the added subs

I love my L7 and I had to pay for it. Once you get the EQ squared away with the help of E90 Post; it's great. It was not meant to hit hard it's all about quality. No regrets here.

The L7 system is going to come into it's own soon. Since L7 uses the MOST bus system, the Mobridge DA-2000 will hook into it digitally, and have the ability to serve as pre-amp to your aftermarket amps via rca. No hi/low signal converters or other detriments to sq. This will revolutionize aftermarket system integration imho.
