In my own experience, I've went through 5 new Valvetronic gaskets since 2019:
Vaico- Came with the valve cover and started leaking after a month. Victor Reinz- used RTV during installation and still leaked after a month Genuine BMW- used rubber cement (would not recommend) and stayed leak free...for 6 months....I just cleaned up any oil buildup once a week for the next 2.5 years. Elring- I switched to the eBay Mitzone aluminum valve cover 2 years ago and, much to my surprise, that gasket never leaked. When I had to replace my Valvetronic actuator back in February, it was still dry as a bone. Replaced it with another Elring gasket. Last edited by AdrianE36; 04-21-2024 at 06:44 PM.. |

I'd assume it was when I replaced it. But is it possible for the plastic cover to warp only a month after installation?
But honestly, I'm just glad it's not leaking anymore. Last edited by AdrianE36; 04-26-2024 at 06:44 PM.. |
