if this works out, and it would be possible for my car to be running like a chipped 330i...(thats like 265-270 hp maybe?), along with intake and exhaust, not bad for a 325i.

i really hope this works out, and that evotech sends u back the flashed ecu soon. lotta ppl will be all over this if all works out. my concern is, if my car still runs smoothly after this sort of mod, im all for it, i just hope the 325 can take all this extra power.

also, if i were to send my ecu to get flashed by evotech to a 330 software, do they take into account the mods i have (i.e. intake and exhaust) so that the ecu is tuned w/ these mods so my car gets maxiumum benefit from the ecu.

I think that's realistic with the mods you have listed.

I sure hope so too!

The only part that could possibly take a hit is the clutch in M6 cars. 330i has a bigger clutch, however if you don't do burn outs or stuff like that you should be fine with 325i clutch. Steptronics are the same in both cars. 325i also has a tad shorter gearing so you will accelerate faster than 330i with similar mods, at least in theory.

That's what they claim, maybe they will chime in with details...

However I would not recommend anybody sending their ECU before this mess is sorted out and the experimental "330i programming" is proven to work... Unless you want to have your car in the dock for undefined time...

lol i hear ya bro
ye i wont have to worry about the clutch, i got step.
and also the shorter gearing i have heard of before as well, lol so in theory this may be one bad ass mod.

ye but imma def. wait for results from u, sux that ur car is inactive for soo long.

i remember evotech saying that they can prgram the software specifically for cars with CAI systems and maybe exhaust, so it could work out hopefully.
i coould be great if someone from their company would chime in this thread and shed some light on what there doing.
i know JLEVI is flashing ECU's from speed inovations. maybe if u dont get it done from evotech, u could get it flashed from JLEVI, i heard there a bit cheaper. check out the sponsors forums
once again gl bro, many ppl right there with ya hoping this works. if so, itll prob be the best mod out there for 325i owners.

if this works does anyone know where we're all going to get 3 stage intakes? i dont think bmw would just sell them to us and unless we can find a way other than taking them off salvaged cars i dont think this will go far in term of a mod for the masses.

Maybe JD from Crown BMW could comment on that? See post #33.

The news is that there is no news. Creative has no idea where programming my ECU is. The car has been on the dock for over 3 weeks now. Very disappointed.

Yes, I have asked them to send my ECU back, but Creative is just an EVOtech dealer. EVOtech has the ECU, but for some reason Creative is not able to get it back... Anyhow that's really not my problem. I have made the deal with Creative so they must get my ECU back. I will try to speak with Creative boss "James" on Monday and after that I decide how to proceed with this issue...

I hope this mod works! I thought about getting that Manifold from Rich. Good luck with the mod. I wonder where RichP got it in the first place. I know that if it works, I will do it too! Then, when VF Engineering comes out with the supercharger kit I will get that too. I hope they hurry!! Ok, that is if I don't sell my car and get me an Elise.

For the 328i owners... you would need the software from the new facelifted X3 3.0si for this project.

One question I have is why would you need the entire intake manifold? If the 325i wiring harness has the connections already there, why wouldn't you just need to get the second DISA motor and then handle the software bit?

FinnVette, I realize this may be an expensive route to pursue, but maybe not. Have you tried an auto recycling company like Bavarian Auto Recyclers? I had a few bad experiences with them in the past, because they are not very organized, but that may be your best bet. See how much it would cost to get a used E90 330i ECU.

The only problem you may have with reflashing the ECU in the US or acquiring a US ECU is that it may have different features than the ones in Europe.

what good would a 330i ecu do him. i thought someone said that the ecu is vin encoded and would just act like a 325 ecu. obviouisly i dont know as much as ks or many people on here but i think another tuner is your best bet

ye wudnt an aftermaket flashed ecu actually give him more power than just a reg 330 ecu?
also ks u said that this might be an expensive route to take? how expensive?
flashed ecu's are less than about 1G right?, and how much is the 3 stage intake manifold?

The manifolds are different, it's not just the DISA motor. However, RichP has said that the very early 325i's had 330i manifolds with plank plates where DISA motors are.

This is correct, BMW ECU's are vin coded. You cant take the ECU from different car. JD could probably comment, but I believe if you need to replace your ECU BMW will program it to match your VIN#.

The challenge now is, that I can't get me ECU back, even without any programming! I don’t know is it lost, broken or what...

Folks, I have some good news for a change. James from Creative called me and said that I should have my programmed ECU back by Wednesday. Cross your fingers...!
