I'm pretty keen to head up to Devonport and join in. I haven't actually been through half of that route so a lot of it will be new to me too.
Should we all get handheld UHF radios? |

This is the recommended radio to get, 4 of us all have already purchased this radio: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311218418...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Requires programming of the 80 UHF channels with the free 'CHIRP' software, I am happy to program everyones radios for them. We have previously had many issues with cheap radios with poor reception/transmit so we are making powerful CB radios a requirement for this trip.

Fuel on day 2 may be a problem
Derwent Bridge seems to be our best bet Might have to call them to see if they stock 98 Everyone should bring one or two 20L fuel cans This from a travel tassie forum re A10 between Queenstown and Hobart.... There isn't a big Shell service station as we might know it in the western world, but you can get fuel at the cafe in Derwent Bridge and there are little ones in Ouse and Hamilton. |

Fyi any fuel containers must be empty when we board the spirit of Tasmania. They don't allow you to bring fuel containers with fuel in them

Sorry boys I'm still tentative. Trying to sort out projects at work currently and taking additional time off has been challenging.
Looks like a solid group so far! Maaaan I'd feel jipped if I missed out |

Had to cut off the Great Lake stay in Miena, the Marlborough High way is unsealed on the way to Miena and it is a huge detour to get there otherwise. Will stay to Bronte Park instead. With fuel stretched already its something we simply can't do. Tasmania seem to have poor availability of 98 petrol in the region we are driving in
Just did the calculations for fuel, the longest distance between fuel stops will be 398km Will need to make a stop in New Norfolk for fuel before heading to Gordon dam. This is the distance we have to cover with onboard fuel over days 2 and 3: https://www.google.com.au/maps/dir/-...42.7828332!3e0 Basically this is the distance between petrol stations that stock 98 fuel. A fuel container will be mandatory for this trip http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Pro...0-Litre/326365 This leg should be easily achievable with a 20L extra fuel container and still have some left over for emergencies.
