What happened with this?
If that assembly is still available, I'll take it.

Hey longtran, are you sure it isn't just a software mismatch? Maybe the newer version "understands" the commands coming over the bus from the newer controller where the old one doesn't? May just be a software issue...

Who knows. It was just a thought....could still be a hardware limitation as LT originally proposed.

Is there any way we can have the new navigation program software from the LCI models as well??

I believe that's a definite no. The new iDrive includes a new main system (the CIC) and a new high resolution display in addition to the updated controller. There are some guys on here working on trying a retrofit, though.

I like the new LCI version control knob.
I was looking on line and noticed that a Pre-LCI knob had the Menu Button and the Voice Command Button. My 2007 only has the Menu Button. Did BMW release two versions in pre-LCI vehicles? I found this two-button one on BMW's official release video.

I have two as well. I think BMW figured out that passengers shouldn't get to muck with everything, only the driver should.

They should have left both buttons. I have an E60 with the two buttons and use the Voice Command button regularly. On the E93, BMW swapped the phone and voice commnad button placement. I keeping hitting the damn phone button when I want a voice command.

Why is this still not available?? The knob has been available for a long time... Anyone knows where to get an aftermarket carbon fiber trim for the LCI idrive knob?
Thanks, A.

I have the part number for the controller but what is the P/N for the trim? I'll see if it can be got here in Germany.
I have a 10/06 production and what I'm reading is that the buttons will not work. Has any one developed a work around for it?
