1. you said performance rotors are the same size as the 328xi's, so what's the size of these rotors? 324x22 or 300x22? According to ESC Tuning, the size of 328xi's rear rotor is 300x22.
2. If the size is not 324x22, how do you know it is the proper size? 3. If the size is 300x22, why your rotors can't fit properly? Does it means the frames are also different even though u can install the rear caliper on it? Good news is that if the 324x22 is the correct size of performance rear rotor, maybe I can find a perfect one. I'm contacting with the seller. Will let u know when I confirm the size and the drilled/slotted style.[/QUOTE] According to RealOEM the Rotors that come with the Performance brakes are 300x22 http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...90&hg=34&fg=95 I used 300x22 with the 135 but they do not fit perfectly. my rears are from a 135. 135i uses 324x22 rear. So, my brakes should work perfectly with the 324x22. That is a rotor and calliper swap from the 135.

The problem is with hat. The hat on the 135 is much deeper than the 328i. Not sure about the xi.

I don't think you can custom a rotor. best bet is 324x22 and try if it fits. I will give it a try after this summer if no one else tries it.

I changed my route and did a 335 swap at the back and i am still running the 135 brakes in the front (hawk hps pads all corners). It is actually a very good combo. After winter Will paint the rear calipers to match the fronts, or maybe change the color of all calipers to something less sharp, like grey.

Hey guys, I'm about to order the front kit for my E91. But wanted to ask if
running the Performance fronts with stock xdrive rear brakes is ok? I know that the Performance rears do not fit. Thanks! |

Yeah its ok. I think you need to code the car and add the performance brake option in the VO so the DSC "knows" you have bigger brakes in the front. Its pretty simple, unless you have the dealer install it.

I think some clarity is needed on the 135i rotors in the rear. Is it the drum that people are referring to as the problem or the hat itself being too deep making the rotor sit too far back?

Both, as you said the 135 rear rotor hat is too deep so you can't fit it right. And if you use machined rotor like me, you will most likely end up with losing hand brake. In my case, I used E60 735i rear rotor (324x20) and machined a lip inside of the hat. But the hand brake shoe can't touch the rotor so my hand brake dead. Besides, because of the thinner rotor I used (20vs22) the computer estimates the life of rear pad shorter than front.

So I discovered something interesting. So the 135 brake doesn't work but the Performance kit fits on the 330, and 328 wagon/convertible. I couldn't figure out why the rear worked on those cars but not on the 325/8 sedan until recently. The rear axel on the 1 series has a different offset than the 3 series. The Performance brake kit rotor has a different part number than the kit for the 3 series. BMW makes a rotor with the correct rotor offset for the 3 series. It doesn't work on the 325 because of the smaller parking brake diameter. If you can get the 180mm brake to work on the 325/8 this would be the perfect solution.
Here's the part number: 34216795755

That looks like it would work. I still don't understand which kit obiwanchen got then, because it should have all been bolt on in that case. |

Yes, the 335i rear brake kit will fit 328xi with no problem.
I got the Performance Front BBK and installed it as OP did, and I got 135 rear caliper and paint it yellow. Then I got drilled E60 735 rear rotor which match the front pretty well( I didn't use 335 rotor because I would be worry about the structure strength if I machined the entire rotors espetially a drilled rotor) |

Where did you get your calipers painted and are they powder coated or just painted? Can you post some pics of them more close up? I love seeing them in that perf yellow color. Last edited by mapleridge; 07-14-2013 at 06:00 AM.. |
