Thanks, this is good feedback. I had thought I'd decline both coverages, but then I've been hearing all these stories on here about wheel damage, frequent and expensive flats that can't be repaired, etc. But I'd imagine that the typical driver's experience isn't quite as bad as that... I'll see what price they offer me for the wheel/tire protection, if it's under $400 I might do it.

As for the lease damage protection, yes most damage would be covered by insurance -- the protection covers tears to the leather, etc. But I've had a dog and leather seats in previous cars and have never had any damage, so this one feels unnecessary. Any serious dents would be an insurance claim anyway... First time I've leased too so I'm trying to navigate new terrain.

Cool -- guess I MAY do wheel/tire if the price is right, and will pass on the lease damage protection.

Hey, I was interested in this coverage too. But the price my CA quoted was $900 for 5 year coverage. I have a 2 year lease so I declined.

I was interested b/c in my previous 6.5 years of E46 ownership, I had three flat tires, which cost me about $600 total. And no, I don't drive aggressively and I am very careful too. But sometimes, you just happen to run over a nail, etc. that you just can't see.

But $900 was just too much for two year coverage. I'll take my chances

$900?! Wow, that is a lot. I'd read on other threads that this is offered at prices from below $400 up to $700 or so -- $900 seems very high, can see why you didn't take it.

I'm leasing for 3 years myself, figured that at $400 it might make sense (assuming 2+ flats in the 3 years). Flats I'm not that worried about, a flat once in a while isn't that expensive to eat. It was more the wheel damage I worried about, as that could get expensive fast. We'll see -- I'll set a price for myself, if they want more than that I'll pass.

Bling, did you get the lease damage protection? This seems like a gimmick to me but who knows.

I am pleased to announce that I am officially the owner a brand new 2007 E92 328i. Don't ask for pics, BMW just has my money and I won't have the car until 4/27. But I do have my new license plates!

The process at the dealer went pretty much as expected. The only things that were a little surprising were the additional amount that they expected from me (they added those free items into the total purchase price) and they didn't offer a discount from what they were asking for warrantees and alarm, etc. I even mentioned that I would be interested in the alarm but not at the price they were asking. No counter offer was forthcoming. No one listens to those things anyway so I really didn't care one way or another.

I did receive some nice parting gifts that will be waiting for me with my new baby when I pick her up. 2 sets of floor mats (1 carpet, 1 rubber) and a lovely 3 series key chain.

Next stop SC......

PS...Received my euro switch (to enable rear fogs) and spare CDV (for modification) by UPS today. They will go nicely with the stainless steel exhaust tips (the correct ones for E92) and the sexy brushed stainless steel license plate frame I already have purchased!

You mentioned that they wanted you to pay for "free items"? Which items were those? I'm picking mine up later this week and want to be prepared going in...

Bummer that they didn't budge on the prices for the warranties, alarm, etc. -- was thinking I'd get them if they were discounted, but not at the list price. Ah, well.

Good luck with your final 11 days of waiting. Sorry to say it, but it makes me feel better that I'm not the VERY last Week 10'er to pick up my car.

Well, i got to drive my car today, it's so friggin' beautiful!!! It does have the higher oil temp gauge (340) and the oil cooler...thank god!!!! I'll pick up tomorrow, i'm just in awe over it!!! =)

Those were the freebies (mats, keychain) that the dealer's giving but when you do a PCD, the performance center needs an order from the selling dealer for any items that are added to the car. The dealer will reimburse the performance center and it was just a clerical era that they were added onto my bill of sale.

If I was taking delivery at the dealer it wouldn't have been an issue at all.
