You're absolutely right Jake It's nothing that can't be fixed. I'm thankful to have had the experience. Mistakes and the trial and error that comes with fixing them is what's required to grow. I'm just glad to make them early and not later..
I’ve only seen coolant connections leak because of a failed o ring on the hose. Never seen a worn down plastic connector.
Maybe the o ring on the hose got pinched?

I've pinched coolant o rings in the past though that was trying to reuse old ones, the new one slid on nicely I remember. Lubed up the o rings and everything. It's a fairly loose fit overall though thats what stumps me. Hard to explain without pictures on hand

I've had way more days like that than you have and I'm still not used to them. They suck.

It's at 116,500mi. I'm sure if the car was always driven softly in the 3000-4000 rpm range the DMF would be a bit better than it is now, but it's not. Redline followed by a quick shift to the next gear 5-6 times a day at a minimum, occasional launches (though I want to nurse the clutch along- no slip yet), and many track days under its belt. I wouldn't personally drive a BMW in a particular way to extend the life of something like a DMF- just enjoy it. For most drivers they wear out regardless so it's not a matter of if it'll die, but when.

Repaired the drivers side headlight adjuster (again…).
I don’t think I repaired it correctly the first time - I hit a minor bump and the adjuster popped out. This time around it’s much more secure and adjusts correctly.

Still an awful design - what kind of company makes a headlight which breaks when going over a pothole!?

Working on installing the headlight reinforcement brackets - I’ll update the thread I started if I can get them to fit…

Does the old hose fit snug on the reservoir?
It’s not a bad idea to replace the reservoir if it’s old. Just never seen a plastic fitting leak, always been the o rings.

So in other words. The stock DmF and clutch can take track duty very well?

Coolant flange started to leak today and lost half my coolant on the floor in my garage. Good thing I have a spare aluminum one.

Ordering a belt kit too since I took the fan out trying to track the leak down.

Old hose is long gone unfortunately. It was a bit crusty when I removed it though. I'll make a vid tonight if I can remember

Ehh, I'm not really sure how it holds up in the long term. The non wear items don't care at all- these cars have extremely stout powertrains.

BTW, for your coding, are you using the INPA + the regular tools (like from Bimmergeeks) or are you using the new-age stuff from here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1681573 ? I'd like to start coding again and I'm trying to see if it's worth trying the "new" software.

For actual coding I use NCS. For increasing the idle, it's much simpler- just a few keystrokes in INPA under functions. You must press store permanently so it does not reset upon the next engine start.

Anyone ever shut their music off so they can hear how smooth the incline 6 is?

Man, on my way back from work today I didn't feel like listening to music so I just listened to the N52 and that thing is damn near quiet.

Occasionally but with the airbox lid off I find it's often not necessary to turn it off

All the time, and I put the windows down and crank up the heat.

Both front control arm bushings were leaking fluid, had them replaced today as well as an alignment. Shop also found and fixed a boost leak for free. Running like a champ now.

sent my bushing sleeve clampy thing to an imaginary internet friend for him to use.
He made new adapters so now it works for all the bushings on the car and not just the fronts.

imaginary friends are cool.

2 years since a lady backed into my car with no insurance, valid rego, valid driver's license. Bumper got chipped, scuffed, and broken locking tabs. First year I was too busy to get it fixed. When COVID hit I had some time, but the supply lines were too screwed up to get parts and bumpers specifically so I had to wait longer. Thanks for not replacing with OEM, gecko man.

Eventually found the right M-Sport bumper I needed the other day, and as of today it is now at the shop getting prepped and painted. Soon I won't be embarrassed by my fok'd up front bumper, I'm so excited.

Just got everything up and running yesterday from Bimmergeeks and increased the idle by 100rpm in INPA. Love it haha. The car idles so much better when the engine is hot.
