Those are sexy, but not on the website. I'm due to replace this spring and would love to have those.

so it is safe to assume that HPA has concluded their "R&D" (as if they were actually designing the brakes) and decided it was not feasible to retrofit the F30 brake system for 335 E9X?

I would say YES.
A friend of mine and I are researching on retrofitting Porsche Cayenne S brakes on our 335i. Progressive calipers are nice!

So i just spoke with HPA and they did say, it will not go public. The cost of production and item, It would be rival to a BBK kit in cost, but not give the same performance. When i spoke to a HPA rep, he did say the only difference they felt is the brake pedal feel. Braking was equal which resulted in the non release of the brakes. Hopefully that cleared up the air on the current "update" on this build.
In a nutshell: They are not proceeding to put this out to the public, due to cost : performance ratio. |

Probably related to the size of the piston or the combined piston area vs. master cylinder. Same reason why Porsche Cayenne calipers may fit, but the pedal would PROBABLY be mushy/soft.

The catch is the use of custom pads so there is no under or over-run of the pads due to the E90 rotor swept area. Custom pads cost a lot of money and compound selection is very limited. In addition, upgrading the caliper only still doesn't solve the problem with the rotor(heat capacity). The E90 needs more thermal capacity only a larger rotor can provide. If a pair of upgraded rotors were added to the kit, a proper BBK, such as the one from Stoptech(355x32mm with a 6 piston caliper with a wide range of pad compounds) at a street price of about $xxxx(don't ever pay retail) is a much better solution. |
