"We are expecting the ballast mid next week, we should finish the test 24-48hrs.

US custom is holding the package, we are not sure why they are taking so long.

Sorry about the delay once again." this was the pm by jose_sonictuning 3/4/11

still nothing done or even contacted about this matter....

It isn't you against BMW. It is you against the entire BMW community that gets accused of being irresponsible and has increased costs.

Your mod caused a failure? You pay for it or get the wonderful "sponsored" vendor to pay for it. Do you understand what being a "sponsor" here means?
Preach all day dude, there are 100,000's of thousands of people doing it every day. Just deal with it, you cant stop everyone. These costs are already factored in anyway. Just like the costs at retail stores for theft are already factored in. They know people steal, they know people cheat, they know people commit fraud.

You are trying to be Mr. Right, in a Wrong World.

Let it GO

What can you expect from someone who obviously knows nothing about numbers (100,000's of thousands?????)

Dealers have gotten a lot more picky about mods over the last few years. Even if you'd like to stick your head in the sand and try to believe otherwise, the fact is that they are doing that because of increased costs due to modders.

Attack me if you like but it doesn't change the fact that warranty fraud increases everyone's costs.

Kenny, we did let you know that the ballast was on its way.

Finally it cleared customs we are going to pick them up this morning from EMS.

We will keep everyone posted with the testing results.

UPDATE:
Sonic refunded my cost of bulbs + cost of ballast I ended up buying on Ebay. Despite the delays, I'm happy w/the resolution as they stuck around to address the issues in the thread and didn't just go MIA. I wouldn't mind doing business w/them again as they stood behind their word.

It seems like the Philips Capsule D1S with Malaysia chipped igniters are not compilable with the newer version of the Mitsubishi 6 948 180 ( with the extra capacitor, seems like it's for bulb check)

We tested most of the D1S bulbs that we can get our hands on. (too many to list, and two other one had the same problem.
After bypass those capacitor the ballast works again.

Our factory did a total recall with these bulbs, and we have brand new batch that work with this ballast. (just installed on couple E90 and E92, should finish up testing this week)

As well, we did the same test with the Al Xenon 1 307 329 153 ballast (E92); no problems so far.

^Awesome. Glad to hear that.

I'll be ordering D1S bulbs in the future. Just have other stuff to deal with now.

idk, it sounded expensive, thank god for warranties right?

- i am having the same problem I put in HID lights and now my lamps are fogged and not working anymore on the driver side. I know that my warranty has been voided with me putting this in but if i put the bulbs back to stock and take it in the warranty should work?

can the blown ballast be fixed by simple remove burned cap and bypass it?

Depending on the batch of the ballast, you can replace the cap and make it work.

Sorry to ask but you're the only person who can answer me. I have a 2010 E90 LCI. Would the ballast work with the MTEC 8000K D1S bulbs?
