Vehicle inspection service

The vehicle inspection symbol has come up on my dashboard so I rang BMW to get a quote and the stated £100.70 parts and labour (I did say what parts and the told me the only parts used is the screen wash top up..you gotta love BMW). Whilst on the phone I asked them what happens in the service and all he stated was ...they look at parts of the car and then tell you what's wrong..is it just me being me as I feel this is a rip off and am considering not getting it done.

Should I get it done and does anyone else just ignore it...FYI I have a 320d 59 plate...

Have you checked out maindealerdiscount to see if you can get it cheaper?

In answer to your question, depends on how much you value your FSH to be fair

Had my 325d in at Listers Boston for Brake fluid and Micro-filter they did full vehicle health check too, I got a full print out showing tyre depths, brake pad thickness etc. and a long line of green ticks looking at the invoice i didnt get charged for it.

it came to £155.62. even got a 12 plate 320d loaner for the day. and they didnt even charge me the £10 insurance waiver.

Very happy customer will use them again.

Ant

oh the screen wash was topped up too.

If you're out of warranty then i don't think this "inspection" covers anything that wouldn't be covered by an MOT anyway...

Neither do I. My old car went in for MOT and Inspection. They said the inspection would cost £200 or something. I kept asking, is it even necessary, you have just done the MOT to show that the car is road worthy. The guy reeled off some checks they do, like that you have 4 wheels, they point in the same direction, except of course the front two that need to be movable by some wheel device or something.

There was the mention of checking of the chassis for any wear and tear, but I wasn't convinced that this was £200 of work especially as most of the items they check are identical to the MOT and the service guy even admitted this himself!

MOT is more thorough so if you have had recently then it's all fine.
