First Detail - questions

I just picked up a Zaino kit and have a few questions about detailing my (new to me) 06 Arctic 330xi

1. I dont currently own a polisher - I need to save up some funds for the polisher

can I skip the polishing step this time around and go from clay bar to Z2 to Z8?

Then when I get the polisher, I can repeat all over again with the polisher?

2. I noticed in the detailing pictures, that tape is applied to cover up certain areas - so:
a) when do I tape?
b) what do I tape?
c) what kind of tape?

Thanks for the help!

Z2 won't look quite as nice if there are swirls underneath, but it will still look a lot better than without Arctic is a nice color!

The taping is for when you polish with a machine. It can save some time in final detail to get the white, dried polish off those black things like door handles and trim. Most times people use the blue painters tape.

You wouldn't repeat all the same steps once you get a polishing machine. When you get the machine you would have to polish with Z-PC after the clay and before the Z-2 if you want to stay with the Zaino product line. The Z-2 won't look any better if it is applied with a machine or by hand. Z-2 does look better the more coats you apply though.

Thanks for the info!

I finally have some time to wash/clay/z2 tomorrow

I'll take some pictures to show how it goes

in the sunlight, I can already see some swirlies. so I'll have to save up some pennies for the polisher...
