Questions about Meguiar's ScratchX

So some dumb f&@! apparently put a bag or something on my trunk and now I've got swirl marks on half my trunk. I've tried 2-3 coats of Z-5 and it helped marginally. I still have most of the swirl marks. They cover exactly half of the trunk lid and just the top portion.

How good is ScratchX and what kind of precautions should I take while applying it? Can it be over applied? Can I damage the clear coat if I apply too much?

Anything else out there better than ScratchX?

Mind you I'm a novice at removing swirls and if it's too involved I'll probably just go to a bodyshop.

Thanks y'all.

Check out Meguiars' web site's forum. They have a section on how to use ScratchX properly. You really can't do any harm using it by hand as long as the surface and applicator are clean.

Grab a foam applicator and put a dime sized amount of scratchX. spead over the small area of the surface and start polishing it firmly (not agressive) until the product begins to become transparent. remove. check surface. Re-apply until results are good.

I've never liked hiding imperfections.
