Hello all. I'm trying to add the POIs to a X3 professional navigation system but it uses the High version of the cartography instance the Profesional one. I've managed to do it work more or less, but the POIs comes like 6000km away from they are suppose to be
I think the problem is the .idx and .url files in the High version of the DVD uses different coordenates from the profesional one, so the perl script doesn't leave the right coordenates for the High version. Do you know a way to adjust this? Since the perl script seems to work quite well , I'd like to preprocess the .asc longitud and latitud before running the script. The problem is I don't know how to process the file Thanks in advance |

Is it possible to change POI announcement?
I'm about to order (an e60, actually) & am finalising specification of my car.
I believe getting near to a POI is announced by some verbal message like "you're near your POI" and arrival is announced similarly - is that correct? Is it possible to change/configure this? - I'm looking at using the procedure described in this thread to set up POIs for "safety cameras" (as they're called here in the UK) - and want something a bit more appropriate than this announcement if its going to be triggered frequently on a journey by proximity to camera coordinates - maybe simply a couple of beeps. I'm guessing that the announcement is simply an audio file on the nav DVD - anyone know? And if so, can a different audio clip be associated with different POI types? Anyone know how applicable this procedure is to the business nav system, rather than the professional system as discussed here? |

Hi there !
I tried everything, but still not succeeded. Learnings : 1. Realised that some menus are not dispayed. 2. Tried half a dozen "non intrusive text editors". Finished using Vedit 3. Learned about Perl 4. Understood the GPS format for Lat/Long 5. Burned, burned, burned... Still, I have the menu, but nothing appears. I have tried to look everywhere on the map, maybe my coordinates were not ok (which i doubt, I checked with existing file), but nothing appears. Like my URL and IDX are not correct.... If someone like Jav or Paper888 feel like helping, please.... Thx ! |

url and idx are very sensitive, dont work if made under activeperl on win, work only if made under linux, i think is some char space Vs null space, hex 20 (or 22?) vs 00 ...

Nemis,
Thanks for the answer. However : 1. I have the menu with new POI 2. My URL and IDX are identical to other ones, especially on NULL and SPACE,, the editor i used helped me to do this. Still, not working... Maybe you could post/PM one part of your URL/IDX that works. Thanks for anyhelp, I would really love to have this working. |

Hello, i was able to enhance my nav dvd (High) for Mini Professional Navigation. Great Work so far!!!
I sucessfully added menu items and generated the *.url file with my own php Script online. I've experienced problems with burned dvd's. So i made an image file from the original nav dvd with nero and edited this image file with the shareware MagicIso (http://www.magiciso.com). You are able to extract and /or delete/add files to an image file with this. After saving the edited image it's working if burned with nero again. But i'm still wondering how to generate the *.idx file. By the way, anybody know what it's for? Seems to contain the same data as *.url. But as mentioned above in strange chars. Problems left: 1. Recalculate GPS Data to matching format. I'm trying to use speedtrap positions formated like 49,31866074,8,545900345 in my source data from Tom Tom to the nav format which is like 76157000,158038778. 2. Get these POI's displayed during navigation 3. Getting an audio signal aproaching an defined area around one of these poi's (i guess this would need a Firmware hack to the Navigational System Software?) Anybody can help with hint's or links of further informations? Best regards Andreas

i don't know what, but only under linux (and pearl compiler) we have working .idx and .url @Imola read old post here, gps coordinate must be convert : "longitude and latitude expressed as 32-bit signed big-endian integers" so try 49,31866074 * 2^29 / 45 ;-)

Hello Nemisis,
thanks for your help but 49,31866074 * 2^29 / 45 equals 98 . This can't be the right format for the dvd, or am i wrong?
