Is it true that you actually lose PSI when installing the BOV on our cars.

I ask this becuase a fellow 335i guy told me that my car should be running slower than his because my HKS is affecting the turbos on my car.

No, not on a properly functioning valve.

Apparently youve never been to any import races at e-town or atco. Youll A)hardly find any manual supras and B) They (Automatics) will always have a BOV. Then take a look at the other turbo automatic cars and youll find BOV's on them too.

Yes, a boost gauge on any forced induction car is one of the best first mods. Even if you dont upgrade the performance, youll always know when its functioning properly. FWIW, I have an UR TIAL BOV on my car(its not auto but doesnt matter) and I dont have any leaks. Im also running a PROcede with it and no loss of hp or psi.

very true, go in your car and rev in neutral to like 6k and let off the throttle real quick, youll see it stays on boost for a while for some reason, it does this between shifts as well, not exactly sure why, maybe its an ECU thing where its trying to hold boost through the shift rather then dump it

check on your hyper see if it does the same thing (im curious)

but things like that and otherwise are great to know

Im not sure what you mean. My boost gauge never sticks(its digital) and it never stays on boost when I shift.

Check on my hyper?

on that*

you wouldnt notice it between shifts unless uou were looking for it, and its not on all shifts, just high rev ones, and not even always

just trying revving it to 6k and sidestepping your foot off the throttle, see what it does, youll see what i mean (maybe)

yea ill just get a video of it next time my friend comes around w/ his camera

oh yea and i was thinking about BOVs yesterday too

if you REALLY think about it and REALLY want to reach for it, you could say a BOV is a performance mod, since charge air is hotter than ambient air (even after IC), venting it to atmo versus back into your intake would remove heat from the cycle

it doesnt really do shit, but you could say it does

I have done many searches on thois myself and have heard conflicting information on BOVs for this car. I am familiar with turbocharged and supercharged applications since I had one on my Cobra but I am still learning the ins and outs of this particular car. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, if you add a BOV and are venting metered air into the atmosphere and not back into the intake, wouldn't this cause a rich condition in between shifts? My understanding was that a BOV could be used to vent air that hasn't been metered. Are the BOVs that they have for this car installed in a location that it is venting unmetered air?

I just got my AA BOV installed earlier, I love it and don't feel any lag or lost of PSI.

no that is on MAF cars this is a MAP car (mass airflow, measures the air that passes it, vs manifold absolutle pressure, measures the pressure in the manifold right before the intake stroke of the cylinder)

Do you have any pics of this installed? Where did you get this done at?

Did you ever created any videos or any pics? I am insterested. I had a friend of mine who installed a BOV on a Volvo 740 and i think is sounded good and it work just fine like any other car, but i am interested how it will work on ours. Thanks in advance.
