Dust!

Hey gang,

Thing is I live in a very dusty area and because I that I need to wash the car 3 times a week if I want it clean (it's black saph). The thing is that the car is not dirty, just dusty.

Washing the car 3 times a week is killing the paint, adding swirls and so on and just because of the dust.

What would you advise me do in this case?

Thanks in advance!

abs

Optimum No-Rinse should work for you. You can use it as a quick detailer, it has great cleaning properties that will not induce swirls.

if its just dust and you have good protection on the paint (Wax/Sealant) thenyou can use the california duster.

If you're washing the car correctly, you shouldn't be getting any swirls.

I'm using commercial hand washes... no time or place to do it myself They do add both scratches and swirls Always.

Ah sorry, thought you were washing it yourself.

As zaxjax said, you could try ONR if you do want to start doing it yourself. It's a rinseless wash that doesn't require a water source - you can fill up your 5 gallon bucket inside and just use that. Pretty much all you need, and it goes really quick. Once you get familiar with the process, it shouldn't take much more than 30 minutes to do the entire car.

I don't have the balls to try the California Duster on my paint, but with a fresh coat of sealant/wax you should technically be fine. There's just something fundamentally wrong with using it to me, but that might just be me being stupid and/or paranoid.

My three prior cars were black, and I used the California duster all the time for pollen and regular dust. Never noticed any problems. It does make a big difference in keeping the car clean.

Just remember: don't use fabric softener when you wash the brush.

absix, I live where its always dusty too so I know what you mean.
I agree with what others have said about the California Car Duster. I highly recommend that product to take away the dust. Works great.

Only thing about California Car Duster--or any car duster--is that they will still scratch your car if the car was exposed to condensation such as morning dew. The moisture will allow the dust and dirt to cling to the paint--when you go over the surface with a duster it will be harder to remove.

What about using an anti-static QD like FK1 #425?
