Hey guys,
I did something very foolish which resulted in damaging my car pretty badly. I took it to BMW and they said that I bent 3 rims and i need a wheel-alignment coming to a grand total of $1500 without adding up some body work because I damaged the lower right bumper. My friends are telling me I should probably take it somewhere else to get an estimate because idk if BMW is just telling me this to sucker money from me or not. It is a leased car, so I don't know if I should get the same wheels oem and go somewhere else to get it installed and get a wheel alignment or if I should just suck it up and let BMW do it. What do you guys think I should do?

i was goofing around on a nice parking lot full of ice but i took it waaay too far. In terms of what I did to the car I bent up the rims and i'm just asking if i should just let bmw do it and shell out the money or if i should get oem parts and take it somewhere else. I don't know if that will void my lease contract or anything though.

You could probably buy a good set of used wheels on the For Sale section forum or ebay...then get a wheel alignment from another reputable place or the dealership. For the body work, get the best estimate you can before getting it fixed at a body shop...or report the claim to your insurance.

If I do that it won't void my contract or anything? And It was entirely my fault so I won't report it to my insurance. Bottom line I effed up my parent's gift to me so I'm paying for the repairs.

you hit the car hard enough to bend three rims and you have no suspension damage? get used rims or order new ones cheaper from somewhere else and have it fixed at a good body shop. having the car fixed somewhere else wont do anything to your contract.

thank you my fellow Armenian!
When I go home i'll take the car to different places and I'll get some more estimates. Apparently I only have 3 bent rims but the suspension is fine which is kinda making me wonder if BMW is just saying that to suck more money out of me. I'll see what another place has to say.

I bent two rims on a pothole. I just let the stealership charge the hell outa me, as my sidewalls were bubbled, and the car had to be towed to them. The car's as good as new now though, so it's all good.

I don't think that sound too bad from the dealer because you would have to go through the trouble to find "reputable place" but at least you'd know the dealer should do it right and if they don't, you could have them make it right. Don't go for the deal just suck it up and get it done right the first time which will be a lot easier.
