2010 E92 Woo, Woo, Woo sound??
Sound on my 2010 BMW E92 a day after replacing valve cover and gaskets, new flex disks front and rear and the center support bearing.
It does clear up after driving awhile, but never goes completely away. No codes thrown, no loss of performance and no vibrations. Any suggestions??? |

Does Bubb Rubb live close to you? He's a sneaky bastard!
In all seriousness, I've only heard this come from these things. Beautiful ride btw! You have inspired me to get those kidneys for my E93. Been on the fence about getting them until I had seen them on someone else's ride. Last edited by King Rudi; 12-13-2017 at 02:51 PM.. |

Why not open the hood and poke around where you did the work with a cell phone video instead of far away outside still shots?
You didn't have the sound prior to the work, right? After changing out the VC and gaskets you do have the sound? I'll take a stab in the dark and say it's related to that work. Recheck your work and you'll likely find the issue.

Logic dictates the shop's work isn't suspect, only your own, so check the OFHG and related components you already touched around that area. Is the ole "710" cap tight, new oil filter and o-rings correct type and installed correctly, etc?

It could just be coincidence that it started around same time as other work. I have had one thought, the exhaust bolts were very rusted and he needed a torch to loosen them up enough. Is it possible that there may be a leak there causing the sound? |

Try removing the oil cap and see if the noise gets worse as it kind of sounds like vacuum pressure building in the crank case due to blocked crank case ventilation.

I had a similar noise in my 3 Series shortly after I purchased it. The dealer had someone ride along with me to hear it, and they eventually determined it was the "vacuum return line" that was responsible for the whistling noise. They replaced the line and the sound went away. Hope that helps.

The printout the dealer gave me mentioned "vac line to exhaust valve".
The printout also mentions they removed the following items to replace the line: "Driver side lower trim panel, driver side kick panel, still plate, driver rear still plate, rear seat trim, left rear trunk carpet." After that they "ran new vac line from exhaust valve in left rear trunk to front of engine vac source. reinstalled all trim and test drove noise gone." I corrected a couple small spelling errors, but that is pretty much what they wrote on my service printout. That's all the info I have, but I'm not sure how much help that will be; I think we have different engines in our cars. Perhaps someone else could chime in? I did notice something new yesterday. If I accelerate at a slow pace, very gently, and then slowly increase speed it doesn't make the noise. I'm not talking unusually slow starts, more like a cautious driver would. |

Apologies for digging up an old thread but was this ever solved? Getting a similar noise at various speeds, started happening after replacing the CSB (was originally vibrating under load but no woo noises) so I then I thought it was the diff but replaced that and still get the woo woo noises.
