Check oil light

Two days ago the inboard computer in my car alerted that I needed to add a quart of oil into the car. Before the car gave me this alert the car specified that my there was 7000 miles left on the oil. Now the car is telling me that the oil life is low and that I must get an oil change to avoid severe engine damage. Should I be worried if I have to drive it 50 or so miles before getting the oil changed?

Just make sure the oil level is up, i dont think another 50 miles will be a problem. Is it synthetic thats in there now?

Are you confusing the oil level and oil change indicator? There is no "oil life is low" warning.

yeah, seems like your confusing the two types of warnings. just get a 1 quart and do a top off, you'll have to do it maybe 3-4 times a year. Speaking of which, I need to do mine soon.
BMW 1 Quart is about $8.50

Yea I just found out that I have to add a quart. Didn't think I had to because my e46 never required me to do so

Speaking of which, I need to do mine soon. BMW 1 Quart is about $8.50
