KW V2's Used - To buy or not to buy?

From what I've been reading on several forums including here, the general consensus is that KW V2's are pretty good with the exception of a few people having clunking noises. I found a local set with 20K miles on it and haven't decided on buying it or not. He has an '08 E92 and I have a '10 E90. Part numbers are the same according to KW's online store so should fit. Should I just buy a new set instead? I know they have a limited lifetime warranty on manufacturer defects. Anything in particular I need to look for besides the usual rust?

20k is a lot of miles especially if you don't know how they were used. If you really don't plan on tracking your car or doing other types of driving besides daily and such I would go new KW v1. It's nice to adjust the damping settings but the last 5 sets of coils I have had I rarely ever adjusted the settings. So it really depends on your overall goal.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to search for a new set of the V1's instead. They seem to be pretty legit!

I actually just read up on the ST's. From what I'm reading it's the same as the KW's but instead of stainless steel it's galvanized coated steel? I'm also considering H&R coilovers as well. Any thoughts on those? They seem to have good ratings as well.

I believe KW coilovers come with a lifetime warranty and ST coilovers come with a 1 year warranty. Something to keep in mind...

Similar situation....bought a used set of KW V2s two years ago and this past spring finally got around to them. Sent to KW and after $500 and 3wks had rebuilt, just like new. KW was very easy to work with and explained what had to be done. Still came out ahead vs new for me.

Depending on how it was used and if you ant to go through the hassle of taking the parts off when you need to rebuild them. It can be a costly thing to pay twice for labor.

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to go with a new set after all. I am hearing from a few members that the KW's are suffering from noises when turning the wheel and such. Mainly noise complaints. I was looking at a set of H&R coilovers as well.
