Oh Crap!! What the hell happened? Are you okay? Did you make sure to disconnect the battery? If you did, the airbag should not have gone off! I hope your fine, sometimes airbags that deploy cause minor burns on the face. Shit, and airbags are not cheap! Sorry to hear about this.

If that's not possible, maybe my car need wheel alignment. But if that could happen, I think I have to follow this guide to see for my eyes if the wheel was installed properly.
That's retarded! I don't expect this from a dealer! They installed your new wheel without making sure it's TDC. Just bring it back and have them redo it, it's not an alignment issue.

Its not possible. The only way to put your wheel on is straight. There are teeth on the wheel and the column, and the only arrangement is if the wheel was perfectly lined up.

If your car is pulling to one side, check your air pressure and if thats not it, you might need an alignment...

I'll add my thanks as someone who used these DIY instructions to change to the M Sport wheel. Thanks, Bavarian!

I succumbed to my temptations and currently have an M-sport steering wheel on its way. I have little/no tool experience, and was wondering if you could post picture of the tools you used so I know what I need to buy. I don't have a good idea of what a Torx driver set, nut driver, wrench extension, etc looks like.

As easy as this install is, if you don't have a basic understanding of the tools involved and how to use them, I would REALLY recommend you have this installed by someone else. Bad things can happen and you don't want you car sitting in your garage/driveway without a working steering system...

Nice job.

By the way, is that bolt inside the red circle the 16mm Hex bolt in the center of the steering column? How about those are in blue circles?
Are they the same screws? Is the airbag with yellow sticker?

Thanks a lot.

Yes to all except the blue circles by the airbag. You do not remove those for a steering will swap.. at least I did not have to.

Appreciate it. I just took a closer look at them.
OP wrote up nice step-by-step explanation with clear pictures.

Many many thanks.

Red is the center hex bolt required to remove the wheel. Blue circles on the wheel itself are the bolts required to remove the plate. Dont even both touching the blue ones circled on the airbag module...

Hey, bavarian19, the picture you have of the battery compartment ... that little blue and red wire bundle swinging past the nut with the yellow circle (sorry I can't figure out how to link to your attached image in my post) ... what does that connect to on your car?

I opened my compartment the other day and it's just hanging loose.

Thanks.

Hi, I have one more question.
Can those two parts be connected at any point. Suppose my steering wheel was off center and the alignment was fine, can I center it this way myself?

Greatly Appreciate any input.
