aFe intake + ikon exhaust

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if installing the aFe intake and ikon exhaust would create a substantial difference from OEM in terms of accerlation on an e92 328xi. The stock intake does seem very restrictive, but that's just my unprofessional feeling. Not too sure if that's the case.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect any real gain out of either. Most aftermarkets intakes including the AFE suffer from heat soak that will probably cause you to lose power (but you'll get that swoosh sound ) and a catback exhaust can only do so much.

You would probably do best (if anything) with a charcoal delete on your airbox (supposedly feels like the engine revs more freely), and pick an exhaust based on sound. (Cost conscious options would MMW Muffler or Muffler delete)

I've had the BMW performance exhaust for about 6 months, and the growl keeps me happy.

Look into muffler delete and MMW Muffler by Craven as alternatives. I've never looked into ikon, but I'm sure it's more expensive than these two.

i suggest looking into the MMW Muffler or muffler delete depending on what kind of tone you like. there's numerous youtube videos of both setups.

There was someone on here that posted a 3-4 HP gain from an Injen CAI. I'm too lazy to look up the thread, but he had dyno graphs too. From what I read, the factory intake is actually pretty decent.

charcoal filter delete + scoops = pretty good intake for the buck

exhaust... probably want to stick with BMW PE because of drone issues you will have with other mufflers... but i have heard IKON doesnt drone with resonator intact. MMW and muffler delete seems to be on a bit too loud side for my taste.

MMW is about 500 - 600 im guessing...
IKON is 550 on RE website. or **********s.com
BMW PE is 900 - 1000 depending on which dealer.

for the hp gain... none of them are worth the money.

I have RE IKON + AFE intake. No drone. I got the IKON a long time ago with the AFE intake. If I hadn't bought either of those yet, I'd probably get a charcoal delete + drop in filter + scoops and get the IKON/MMW. Just my 2cents
