N54 Turbo waste gate working - sometimes
Hi everyone. I have 2007 e93 335i with 126k miles on it. Not to long ago I got a half engine light then had the code read by a buddy and it was the 30FF Low Boost Pressure code. I then took it to the dealer and they said the rear turbo's waste gate was stuck. They quoted me $7k to replace the turbo's so garaged it for a few week's working out which indy place to take it to. I drove it this week as my daily driver Lexus is now having alternator issues and now my E93 seems to have the power back. I'm assuming that the waste gate possibly became un-stuck at least for now. My question is how safe is it to drive until I have the turbo's replaced. When it was stuck it really just seemed like i was driving a 328. Any advice is greatly appreciate.

Driving it with a wastegate stuck open is harmless, just slow as you've experienced. With a wastegate stuck closed, it will overboost and should be considered undriveable.
The problem is, if it sticks open, it could stick closed and strand you. Unlikely but possible. |

Thanks relative4. I removed my JB+ in the mean time and i'll try to stay out of boosting too much for now. When i do get to replacing the turbos I thinking of the Vargas OE plus.
