Shiv,

Just a thought on the placement of the switch... Maybe you could make a setup that would replace the cig/ash tray that could be folded up/removed etc. I think this would be great for people who would like to keep the car stock looking/easily removed for going to the dealer. Just a thought that wouldnt require many mods to the car. Thanks for all the great work!

I think the ashtray placement is a great idea.

Yes, it sure is. In fact, that's were we already decided to mount the switch and indicator light. The ash tray insert slides out and can't cost more than a few dollars from the dealership. We can certainly modify them to house the new electronics. Perhaps include a modified one in the kit so people can just slide it in and route the wiring to the Xede. It'll be very James Bond-like. Done deal.

As for a Desi discount.. hmmm. I don't think I could get away with that since every Indian I know (myself no included!) owns a BMW

Shiv sounds great! My 335i will be here mid nov hopefully your kit wont be too far behind! I might have to justify the road trip to CA to get it installed/tuned on the dyno!

Thanks again.

Didn't realize it at the time but I was driving down Crow Canyon here in Danville last Friday @ 5:30pm and noticed what I thought was a new stock e92 335i pull up side by side. The sounds emitting from those exhaust pipes were amazing and saw it rip down the open road down Alcosta.

The whole day I couldn't help but wonder how great sounding and fast the 335i is, then stumbled upon this post and realized that it was Shiv and his tuned 335i that I saw. That thing was wicked fast.

Nice car Shiv and nice seeing you around town! If I weren't waiting for the new M3, I would be ordering a new 335i and bringing it to you for tuning!

Shiv, kind of an off topic here but since you have replaced the exhaust from cats back would you mind taking a pic of the stock exhaust? Or if anyone has a pick of the car from the underside where you can see the whole exhaust could you post it please?

Thanks

At this point, we just have the basic kit working, in prototype form. Still have a bit more work to do before we have something in sellable form.

Does anyone know the specs on the trannies?

How much torque can they handle? This would be a factor if any mods push the torque abovr 400 lb/ft. I am especially interested in the step.

Thanks

maybe you should talk to random technology in making a bolt on cat for the 335i or get a universal random tech racing cat fitted into the 335 to replace the factory cat....

i had one on a b5 1.8t...even with a 3 inch complete exhaust piping....factory cats are so restrictive......once a random technology cat was installed.....it made the car feel 1,000 pounds lighter with hp gains depending on exhaust set-up....(another thing...a high quality aluminum by-pass-valve makes throttle response almost instant...but no hp gain)...

i was bit scared with the smog inspection in ca....but...the random tech cat actually passed with flying colors....

anyways..just fyi..if you looking for some extra ponies...turbo cars just want to BREATHE and EXHALE just as much...

Vishnu,

This is some amazing work. It appears you've definitely beat Dinan and any other tuners to the punch. Based purely on the preliminary numbers you've posted, I have decided not to go FI on my existing G35, not to get the E46 M3 I was planning on, but to order a 335i coupe!

Please keep up these efforts- the E90 community is lucky to have such an awesome innovative company doing R&D work.

so if something goes wrong with the engine, I can just remove this ecu box in 10 seconds, and car will return to normal and dealership will never notice that it's been tuned before ?

I would think the onboard computer would be able to record engine operating levels such as turbo boost much like a black box does for planes.

Yes, the stock computer will be able to record all the maxs and mins. Fortunately, our approach keeps all values with factory ranges. No problems here.

Hey Ian, I've been lurking for a long while, but now that I'm getting serious to jump ship it was time to join up. Let's show these guys how it's done! :rocks:
