P21s Gel and Poor Boys wheel wax
Well I just got a bottle of P21S wheel gel to help clean my wheels, but I was wondering how it affects my Poor Boys wheel wax.
By leaving the gel on there for 20 minutes, will it strip the wheel wax???

The P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner probably had some impact on the coat protection since it was dwelling for 20 minutes. A quick way to tell if it stripped off all the protection is next time you wash, check to see if the wheels still bead water.
When protecting your wheels with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, I'd recommend maintaining your wheels with a dedicated wash mitt and some automotive shampoo for maximum durability. Save the P21S for your larger details before reapplying the Wheel Sealant or to help remove stubborn contamination. Hope this helps. George |

first of all i feel leaving the gel on near useless as it dries up in 20 mins.. i spray it on and agitate.. then spray off..then i only fill the swissvax brush with it and with the water already on the wheel/tire it spreads like crazy.. i haven't really had any adverse effects on my swissvax auto bahn wheel wax but some claim to.. but my wheels after a few months and about 10 washes were still beading.. so that is impressive to me.. when i aprayed down the wheels a few months ago and let it sit i found no advantage.. maybe for stained wheels but in my experience it takes more that p21s to get that out.. i wish to god we had the red formula.. it is sooooo much more potent than the green.. smeels like an asshople though.. but who cares if it's safe and only super potent on the brake dust and grime.. i saw a stained wheel come out looking like new after letting it soak for 20 mins.. but with the green seriously i have found no advantage other than wasting expensive gel!

IMO i only use it on high-end wheels, or wheels with a LOT of brake dust build-up. i really liked the gel after i used it on a M5 which drove on a road that wasn't completely dried yet, and got tar all over the wheels and wheel wells. i sprayed on the wheel gel VERY liberally, went to have lunch, came back, and agitated it with a EZ detail brush and it came right off like butter! Meg's wheel brightener (which is acid) didn't even take the stuff off!!! |

This sucks. I was under the impression that the P21S wheel gel wouldn't remove the Sealant?? I took the time to pull my wheels off, and did 3 coats of Poorboys wheel sealant to the entire inside and outside of each wheel. Was a couple hour process.
I usually use the P21S when cleaning my wheels, leaving it on for about 2 minutes on the front wheels, and about 1 minute on the back. With this short time, is it likely that I have stripped off all that sealant I applied?? I wash once a week and always use the P21S Wheel cleaner. |

Yup, once the wheels are sealed, soap and water is all that should be needed to clean them. Wheel gel will strip some of the sealant.

Just got my P21S gel, used on my OEM wheels which had baked break dust and grim. Spray the gel left it for about 1 hr and scrub it with the sponge that came with it. The grim wouldn't come off. Am i using it wrong?? sorry for being off topic.

I used the P21 S gel this morning. Worked like a charm, it doesnt cling on the vertical surfaces as much as I thought it would be. But on the inside of the rim, everything came off. I could see how this stuff would really strip your sealant, so I wont be using it all the time. I had the wheels off to do the inside. I got to get the EZ detail brush!!

CG Barbones does a phenominal job to the wheel wells. It leaves a nice gloss while cleaning up the dirt/grime. It comes with a sprayer, but the tubing is a bit long and has to be cut/bent. All you need to do is spray the area of choice and it does its magic. Here are some pictures:
