DefiV Diff Lockdown Kit

First of all I want to thank Rick for building a super high quality kit and for FFTEC for a quality and quick install, Dave really knows how to turn a wrench.

As many people have seen on the forums, wheelhop has been destroying driveshafts and halfshafts. I actually shattered a halfshaft from wheelhop, so I looked into DSS reenforced units, but I preferred solving the root problem, which was wheel hop caused by our super soft diff bushings creating way too much play in the driveline. I have high hopes that this will save our drivelines from Wheelhop.

I went into FFTEC today, who were able to install the bushings without dropping the subframe. Other shops may request to drop your subframe, but it is not needed.

After a few hours I was on my way, and I noticed immediately how the rear was much more planted. Before at WOT my car would shimmy to one side or another, but after the kit was installed the car just plants and runs solid and straight. The original diff bushings can actually be squeezed by hand, that is how much play there is. Which is terrible for a 400+ WHP car.

Also on the freeway when I downshift, the car no longer shifts to one side before pulling forward, it just sticks and goes.

This kit is essential for any modded N54 car and to save your driveline also this kit did not induce any additional Noise Vibration or Harshness. It's pretty isolated with our subframe bushings.

Also Rick offerred incredible support throughout the process. Here are some pics of the kit and installation.

Where did you get it from if you dont mind me asking? Im very curious as to how MUCH different it will make the car feel under WOT and even driving around town... If you could let me know that would be much appreciated

IMO with my LSD and full E85, it makes a huge difference. Just driving around town, the rear feels so much more solid. The stock diff bushings are a joke, you can literally squeeze them with your hands, having that much play might be great for a stock car being driven like a grandma, but not for a modded car that's being driven as it's intended to be driven.

See I thought getting an LSD would help out/and or eliminate wheel hop in general but it didnt and I cant freaking stand it. I hardly ever really launch my car but even on the highway you described exactly what I'm going thru and how the car feels!! This is exactly what I want and especially after seeing your comments about it and seeing there video!!!! I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!!!

It's not Cheap, I think the standard price is $699, but Rick might be doing specials, the best thing to do is reach out to him from his website.

But considering replacing a halfshaft cost me over $800 (parts and labor), it's a great mod. The car tracks STRAIGHT now, as it should.

Also if you already have the bushings, you can purchase the partial kit from him as well.

It's a great kit. I have it too, and the OP is spot on in the review. The rear end of the car is way more controlable now.

Do you need to have power flex bushings or will the m3 rear bushing work as well?

Diff bushings and Subframe bushings are different.

This kit takes the place of the powerflex diff bushings. If you already have those you can buy the partial kit with the plate support piece.

Wow you are right I have no idea why I was thinking of subframe bushings.

I'm in for this for sure if its somewhere in the neighborhood of $699 or lower. I think this would completely eliminate all the wobble you get when you go WOT, like OP said. I thought the LSD would fix it but it still has that little bit of feeling of swaying when you hit it from a stop or even a roll. I'm going to order ASAP

When you eventually see the OEM diff bushings and realize you can actually squeeze them in your hands, you will know what's causing the rear suspension geometry to change under load. This kit literally makes your diff and subframe one single connected until ZERO play.

The full kit is only $699, before shipping that is. Cheers!
