New car Nitrogen Charge

Just placed an order for a 3 series in the GTA and noticed that there is a $79.99 charge for Nitrogen. The sales rep claims that if I ever have to pump air into my tire (because it's running low, ...), I can bring my car into the shop and they will deplete the air and refill with nitrogen. They have offered to do this for free in the past.

Does anyone else think that this is ridiculous I can see this being an option for people that are interested but this seems to be a rather petty charge

Complete BS, the nitro pump is paid for the fills are the biggest mark up item on the list. Tell him Nitro no fee. Thats ignorant.

^ Budds .. for sure charge Nitrogen air. I think Autohaus does it too.

For sure, BMW Toronto, Parkview & TC do not either.

...did you tell them that regular air is 78% nitrogen already?

I can see pure nitrogen being useful for say, F1 drivers where every little bit of difference counts but I'd rather go with normal air and check my tire's air once a month when I go gas up for $1. (There's more benefit in checking your tire pressure regularly than having the dealership fill your tires with nitrogen once every 6 months).

Its been proven over and over again to be an absolute waste of $. They sell 300 cars a year @$80.00/car...easy $24,000 less cost probably = $20,000 profit.
