Auto Insurance

Hey guys,

Just moved to Boston, MA from Texas and I am shopping for auto insurance.
Right now, I am aware of following insurance companies

Metropolitan Auto / MetLife Auto Insurance
Liberty Mutual ( not so good? )
Traveler's and Plymouth Rock
Arbella

Is anyone using them / experiences?
Any recommendation to other insurance agencies I am missing?

I searched through the subforum and only found a thread 2007. Hopefully I am not reposting.

Thanks!

Most of the major online insurance companies such as Geico, Progressive, Esurance, etc, offer coverage in MA.

I went with Geico moving here three months ago. Don't know about their service, but they were the cheapest by far.

I have Amica. On my second year with them. Haven't had any claims as of yet, but they were the cheapest from its competitors.

Had Metlife before .. just about o.k .Last 2 yrs on Amica. While they not the cheapest I would vouch for their claim handling in most debatable situations- Got accused of Leaving the scene of the accident from a grocery parking lot. Amica handled the situation seamlessly . I pay for superior service .

My experience with Geico( cheapest) - 9rs back -Got dropped after the first accident claim - Admit it was within the first month of sigining up.

I had Safety for years and never had any complaints about them, but when I picked up my E90, they priced themselves out. I went with Geico. They had just started serving the Mass area, so maybe they were offering better rates to gain customers around here, but they offered the same coverage for far cheaper than I could get from Safety despite my long tenure with them. Also far cheaper than Liberty where I get a company discount.

Obviously, cost isn't everything and service is a big component. I can't comment yet on that aspect from Geico, but so far so good.

I have Metropolitan and have had good service from them over the years.

Years ago I had Liberty Mutual. They tried to f me over once and it took my
filing a complaint with the state of MA to get them to 'do the right thing'.

Needless to say, I will NEVER do business with them again - they can shove
their BMW CCA discount! Did I say NEVER?

i have geico. never had any reason to yes or no them until 2 weeks ago when my wheels were stolen. they came out, cut me a check for 4k on the spot, covered a rental car for a week. no issues what so ever.

and this was just regular comprehensive, nothing super crazy expensive.

Amica consistently is rated highly on customer satisfaction.

From JD Power: http://www.jdpower.com/content/press...ance-study.htm
Quote:
Northeast Region: Amica Mutual (867) ranks highest among award-eligible insurers in the Northeast region, followed by New York Central Mutual (811) and GEICO (793).
From Consumer Reports: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...ance/index.htm
Quote:
... based on the experiences of 28,241 ConsumerReports.org subscribers who filed a claim between 2006 and the first half of 2009. Eighty-six percent of them were highly satisfied with the handling of their claims. Among the highest-rated groups were NJM, USAA, Amica, and Auto-Owners, with overall satisfaction scores of 92 or higher. Availability for some insurers is limited by region or policyholder eligibility rules.

I've used Amica for 12 years. Several claims, one totaled vehicle, currently insuring 4 cars + home owners.

Great company. Good prices. Claims processing is excellent.
